When I first stepped into the Ribble Cycles showroom in Clitheroe, I was taken back by its sleek, modern look and this continued into the actual buying experience.

The highly successful UK bike brand have multiple showrooms across the country and this particular location was unlike anything
I'd ever seen with it's state of the art interactive technology.

The showroom staff and bike experts were on hand to run me through what a customer might expect if they wished to purchase one of their products.

00:00 Hi, my name's Sam, Digital Reporter for the Lancashire Post and come with me as I head to Ribble Cycles
00:06 as I take you through an interactive experience on how to buy a bike at their state-of-the-art showroom in Clitheroe.
00:14 Identify whether it's going to be a road bike that you want to ride, whether it's going to be an off-road bike,
00:18 whether it's going to be an assistive, power-assistive bike, what it is that you're actually looking for.
00:23 Once you've identified that, the next step would be to see, first of all, pick out the right bike, perhaps one or two.
00:29 So you can choose one and then have a look at prices once you've kind of narrowed it down.
00:35 If you liked a particular one, the next step would be to make sure you've got the right size.
00:40 Obviously, at the showroom, you have a really good opportunity to make sure that when you leave, you've obviously got exactly the right frame size.
00:47 We've got a lot of road bikes in here which you can choose from, and I know that in your price range, this might be an ideal option.
00:54 So our R872 here, which is a fantastic bike, available in different builds.
00:58 The builds are visible on the screen here, so you can have a quick look here and look at the different pricing
01:03 and potentially the different build options you've got with different wheel sets and different group sets.
01:08 And then you can obviously match that to your budget.
01:11 That might be the next step, and when you're happy, if that was a bike you thought you'd like to try,
01:16 then we would take you over to the sizing team and make sure that we get you the right size frame.
01:21 So the next step, obviously, if we've identified the bike, over to the Wall of Truth.
01:25 And then if you keep your chin down, that's brilliant.
01:28 I need to kind of jump a bit.
01:30 So I reckon with a shoe, your shoes are probably half an inch, maybe a bit more.
01:37 That's acceptable.
01:38 So that means you're probably about 6'3". Does that sound right?
01:41 Sounds about right.
01:42 Brilliant. Okay.
01:43 So with that measurement, then we can use a tablet here, and obviously we can apply that to the different sizes for the frame sizes that we've got for the R872,
01:52 pick out the right size frame, and then obviously add the crucial geometry that we need to the size of the bike.
01:59 It takes a couple of minutes, and then you can get on board and try riding it and see if we can get it right.
02:04 We need to make the adjustments so that you then get the right bike.
02:08 Sounds good.
02:09 So once you've identified the right size frame and you've got the right size bike,
02:12 it's to look at the things you can do to customise it, potentially to maximise what you can buy within the budget that you've got,
02:18 if that's what you'd like to do.
02:20 So what we do is go on here, we've looked at the R872,
02:24 come around a little bit, that's it, and then we'd obviously look at the right bike on here, so we've got a carbon GoPro.
02:30 There we go, we can look on here.
02:32 There we go.
02:33 There's the R872 there.
02:35 So let's see if we can get that on.
02:37 And then once we've chosen the bike, we pop in your size.
02:42 There we go, so extra large, customised.
02:45 And then we're going to do that one more time.
02:49 Customised.
02:50 And then we can see Bike Builder.
02:52 So Bike Builder gives you those options in order to make different changes.
02:55 And then obviously we also have Custom Colour.
02:57 So Custom Colour enables you to choose, depending on which colours you choose, from £350.
03:03 And it's a special bike, in a colour that you like, so you can configure that.
03:10 Obviously, lots of different paint finishes.
03:15 There we go, for both the frame and the decal.
03:19 And we can see the cost of that.
03:22 Then we review and buy, and we can see the price.
03:26 We can see the expected delivery date, and we can also see the full list of your build.
03:33 Everything that's going to be involved in building that bike, for our mechanics.
03:39 Ready for when you collect it.
