00:02 Every March is World Kidney Day.
00:05 Silent killer is the chronic kidney disease because it is one of the leading diseases in the Philippines.
00:12 So you should know that it is important to know how we take care of our kidneys.
00:19 This afternoon, we will be joined by Mr. Reynaldo Abacan Jr., the President and Founder of Dialysis PH.
00:27 What's the advocacy of Dialysis PH and how did your group start?
00:32 Our group started on a social media platform that was composed of a few members.
00:39 Now, we have 66,000 members.
00:42 The mission of our group is to raise awareness and prevention about chronic kidney disease.
00:48 What was your personal experience with CKD?
00:52 I started to have a dialysis or chronic kidney disease in 2010.
00:57 You will not feel anything. It was a late stage when I found out that I have chronic kidney disease.
01:02 Now, we have two primary tests that we can do to check if we are at risk of chronic kidney disease.
01:11 The first one is Urine Albumin to Creatinine Ratio or UACR.
01:16 By giving a sample of urine, we can see the result if we are at risk of chronic kidney disease.
01:26 The second one is the Creatinine Test through blood.
01:29 What can we do to lower our risk of CKD?
01:34 You know, we have the 8 golden rules of kidney health.
01:39 Keep fit and be active.
01:41 Let your family exercise and eat healthy foods.
01:48 Go, grow and glow foods.
01:50 Of course, we need to maintain our sugar level.
01:54 The two causes of chronic kidney disease are hypertension and diabetes.
02:00 We need to drink water and avoid dehydration.
02:03 We should stop our vices like smoking.
02:07 We have a higher chance of getting back to our normal life if we have vices.
02:12 Avoid over-the-counter medicines.
02:15 It is dangerous to take pain relievers that can damage the kidneys.
02:20 We should have a regular check-up, blood test, urine test.
02:24 That's why, my fellow "Kapuso", we should always remember, it starts with you.
02:29 Get checked.
02:30 Thank you very much, Mr. Reynaldo Abacar, Jr.
