The Reincarnation of Golden Lotus is a 1989 Hong Kong film directed by Clara Law Cheuk-yiu (羅卓瑤) and produced by Teddy Robin (泰迪羅賓), and written by Lilian Lee Pik-wah (李碧華). The film stars Joey Wong Cho-Yee (王祖賢) as Poon Kam-lin (潘金蓮), the main character of the film. Other casts include Eric Tsang Chi-wai (曾志偉), Wilson Lam Chun-yin (林俊賢), Pal Sinn Lap-man (單立文), and Ku Feng (谷峰).
Sin Yu-lin (Joey) is a young woman living in modern-day Hong Kong who is haunted by visions of her past life in ancient China. There, she was the famous Poon Yu-lin (潘金蓮), an archetypal femme fatale courtesan who was lusted after by many men in the 17th century. Through the flashbacks, Shan begins to see similarities between her current life and her previous existence, which ended in despair and emptiness. Using this knowledge of what has gone before, she becomes determined not to make the same mistakes this time around.
