See Inside This Quirky and Full of Character Wedding Venue in Shropshire - Walcot Hall
Transcript
00:00 Hello I'm Lucinda Parrish and welcome to Walcott Hall. We live here as a family.
00:05 I'm married to Robin, whose parents bought it back in 1957 and we've been
00:13 married for 26 years now and we've got four children Arthur, George, Nancy and
00:18 Eddie and they've all grown up here and we love it as a home but we also share
00:23 it with anyone who wants to come and get married or have a party. We kind of enjoy
00:32 the fact that it is a family home. It looks really big and impressive and
00:37 stately but actually it's not. It's quite a friendly house. We've got a great team who
00:42 work at Walcott and who help us and look after us and we look after them we hope.
00:49 But if you wanted to come and get married here then you've got the most
00:53 amazing view and the gardens are yours for the musing. Just get married
01:00 wherever you like. So as well as weddings we are basically open to all sorts of
01:06 celebrations. We actually host an opera every year in June. This year will be our
01:11 20th year. The company, our Regents Opera, they're absolutely brilliant and they
01:17 come from London. They're a touring opera company and they come and they stay
01:21 here. All the cast are here, sleeping here and perform on Friday and Saturday
01:26 night. The gardens are all open so people who want to come and have a picnic, kind
01:34 of like Glyndebourne but it's in Shropshire, can set up anywhere around
01:38 the gardens, have their picnic and then there's a drinks reception in the hall
01:42 and on a lovely day where you can see out here they can mingle with their
01:48 glass of fizz and chat away.
