Oskar Joost u.s. Orchester-Zwei Treppen links im Treppenhaus

Oskar Joost (1898 in Weißenburg an der Els, presently Wissembourg in France-1941 in Berlin) was a German violinist, tenor saxophonist, clarinetist and bandleader. He also used the pseudonyms Leo Hardy and Fred Marley. In the year 1924 Oskar founded with his brother Ali, Tanzsport-Orchester Oscar [sic] Joost, with Oskar as the lead violinist and his brother Ali as a drummer. Subsequently he worked in Germany and in Denmark. His first records were cut in 1929 for insignificant department store brands. In March of 1930 he enjoyed his breakthrough in Berlin with a cotract at the Eden Hotel and a record contract at Electrola, Additional recording activities in other companies included sessions for Pallas (1931), Crystal (1931-1934), Ultraphon/Telefunken (1932 ), Grammophon/Polydor (1934-1941). As a soldier in the war, he was badly wounded, but would eventually die from flu in 1941. This outstanding record was made in 1932. Vocal by Leo Monosson.
