00:00 Hello I'm Nathan Judah from a very loud Molineux, the sound system is boobing. I'm here at Wolves
00:14 of Water, Mr Liam Keane. Liam, Wolves of Water is 2, Westmoreland Shelby is 0. It's nice
00:20 if I can get a win at Molineux after what we talked about last Saturday. 10 consecutive
00:24 Black Country Derby wins for the Wolves women and I think in the end they just about deserved
00:31 it didn't they? 10? 10? Oh 10! It's a bit cold. I tell you what, it is cold. I mean
00:36 that is dominance isn't it? That is dominance. 10 consecutive Black Country Derby wins. And
00:41 Wolves are definitely good value for it. It was a bit of a scrappy game first half, lots
00:45 of heavy tackles going in. Oh yeah it was a bit feisty first half. Yeah a bit feisty,
00:49 a few yellow cards thrown around, definitely a bit scrappy. But Wolves needed a little
00:53 bit of inspiration, a little bit of quality and they got it. Through Tammy George, a run
00:58 through the middle, an excellent attacking run through the middle from deep, carries
01:01 the ball forward really nicely. Set to Amahoues, Amahoues as we know is a very good finisher.
01:06 As soon as you get to that point, snip at an opportunity, he finishes it really nicely.
01:10 He's opened up really well, but you know, opposite corner, perfect. Wanted to give him
01:13 another chance. And that's 1-0 and from then on, Wolves weren't really troubled. They were
01:18 comfortable. Yeah Beck Thomas made a few good saves in that second half, but Wolves
01:23 were fairly comfortable and eventually found the second through Tammy George again. A bit
01:26 of a scrappy goal, but a good goal with less to give Wolves a win. Yeah, it looked at the
01:30 same time, Albion did have a chance in there as well. Beck Thomas had some good saves.
01:34 Yeah, I mean, there was a couple of hairy moments in that second half where Beck Thomas
01:38 was needed. I mean there was that one particular save from Delphi Cole I think for Albion who
01:44 caught it quite nicely, a fierce shot and Beck Thomas was equal to it. So you need those
01:49 moments, especially at 1-0. So to take an all-encompassing performance into account,
01:55 it was a good win for Wolves and it takes them from, I mean they were languishing in
01:58 seventh because of not playing as many games. There were so many games to play. Yeah, so
02:02 many games to play with postponements and everything, but up to fourth now and looking
02:05 strong again. Yeah, look, I'll speak to Dan McNamara in a little bit. Hopefully Destiny
02:09 Toussaint who had to come off injured isn't too bad. I think her best performance tonight,
02:14 but looks a little bit nasty and hopefully we get some good news on that. Yeah, limped
02:18 off and it was what the game was really, a few of those moments where there was players
02:22 getting little niggles and tough tackles going. I thought Merrick Will actually for Wolves
02:26 was really good in midfield, really, really strong in the tackles, really, really good.
02:32 Just strong physical moments where she was able to get Wolves further up the pitch from
02:37 midfield. So yeah, Wolves had their own and you need that because you're at Molineux,
02:41 you've got over 2,700 fans here, really important for Wolves women to continue growing and this
02:48 was a good opportunity which they took. Yeah, like you say, 2,700, a lot of them are below
02:53 us here, all the girls signing shirts, just interacting. It's such a great place to bring
02:58 a family, if you haven't been to football yet, if you want to introduce your children
03:03 into the game without maybe going into a Premier League game, which I don't blame them at
03:06 all, to come into an environment like this which I think is friendly, it's happy, it's
03:12 very giving. I think it's a fantastic time to get your kids into football. Yeah, especially
03:17 because you can see all the coaching staff, they get a big bag full of shirts, they've
03:22 got the players' names on them, they hand them out to all the players. You're warning
03:25 me not to get shirts. No, I'll be alright. And they go round and they hand shirts out
03:30 to kids as well and they get them involved, they sign programmes and shirts. It's not
03:35 just for little girls to get involved in football, it's for families as you say and
03:40 kids of all ages and genders who want to get into Wolves. It's a great opportunity for
03:45 them and it was a good atmosphere and a good win again here at Molineux. Yeah, it was.
03:49 You know, Wolves aren't going to go up this year, I think it's quite evident in that,
03:54 in the league table. At the same time, they've been so close so many times, I get a bit frustrated
03:59 really because of the situation with the promotion and everything that's gone on over the last
04:03 few years because they had the chance, didn't they? And they should have been up and now
04:06 you've got a lot more teams with a lot more money and they've done very well to be where
04:11 they are. You look at Newcastle at the top of the table and a lot of those women are
04:15 on full-time contracts. It's very difficult to compete but I think the job that Dan and
04:19 everyone around them does is excellent really for what they've got. Yeah, considering the
04:25 tide they're swimming against in terms of resources, they're holding their own and more
04:29 so to be honest. I've done bits on it speaking to Dan and done pieces on it over the season.
04:34 But yeah, as you mentioned there, Newcastle are, all their players are on contracts, minimum
04:40 wage at the very least but some of them are more than that. You're looking at £25,000
04:43 a year. These are girls who are actually making careers playing in the third tier where Wolves
04:48 aren't at that stage. Do you think that would be nice to potentially get a little bit of
04:52 a boost at some point? Yeah, I think they're working towards it. It's going to take a bit
04:57 of time and they're getting the infrastructure and the general structure in place and they
05:02 have done that for quite a while over the last few years. But they're just not quite
05:06 there with the money really is the main thing. I think there's more to come from this team.
05:12 You would like to think they might get a little bit extra funding at some point but there's
05:17 a lot of hoops to jump through, a lot of people to speak to and they've got a little bit of
05:21 a way to go. But on the field they're still doing themselves proud and I think they're
05:25 a really accomplished side under Dan and they continue to get better every year even with
05:31 the challenges and maybe not challenging for promotion that the other teams face. Wolves
05:35 being West Ham for fun this season? It's just too easy isn't it? Wolves 2-0 for the post-match
05:40 reaction. Make sure you log on to expressandstar.com
