00:00 Ronda Rousey shoots hard on Vince McMahon and WWE!
00:04 A top name leaves WWE!
00:06 My review of AEW Dynamite and more.
00:10 I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:20 Becky Lynch will release her much anticipated autobiography on Tuesday, which is titled
00:25 'The Man, Not Your Average, Average Girl'.
00:30 And coincidentally, the week after that, Becky's former WWE rival Ronda Rousey will release
00:36 her second book, which is titled 'F*** Vince McMahon, F*** John Marinaitis and F*** WWE'.
00:43 Ronda Rousey's autobiography, actually called 'Our Fight', will come out on the 2nd
00:48 of April - the go-home week for WrestleMania XL - and several sections have already been
00:53 publicly released.
00:55 Shoot hard on WWE and its disgraced former chairman Vince McMahon, whom she refers to
01:02 as WWE's Emperor Palpatine.
01:04 For those not familiar with that reference, Emperor Palpatine is the Captain of the Borg.
01:08 I love Battlestar Galactica.
01:11 It's unknown whether these passages were written before or after the public filing
01:16 of Janelle Grant's lawsuit in late January, which alleged sexual assault and trafficking
01:20 against McMahon.
01:21 Which McMahon denies.
01:23 But Rousey recalls it was hard to tell whether evil, unethical, slimeball character of Vince
01:28 McMahon's onscreen character ended, and the actual, questionably ethical, many times
01:33 sued and multiple times accused of sexual misconduct, Vince McMahon begins.
01:39 But it wasn't just Vince that she targeted.
01:42 She called out the sexist, casting couch culture of the entire company, which had McMahon at
01:47 its helm.
01:48 She said she was cynical about WWE's more recent progressive presentation of the women's
01:53 division, as the company always saw its female performers as footnotes where men in powerful
01:59 positions pressured female talent for sexual favours in return for airtime.
02:04 "There were so many public accusations and scandals, it's hard to keep track.
02:09 And more than I'm sure the WWE managed to sweep under the ring."
02:14 She continued, citing WWE's business partnership with Saudi Arabia, where Ronda did wrestle
02:20 at Elimination Chamber 2022.
02:22 Pay-per-views are held in major cities like New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia, as
02:27 well as now twice a year in Saudi Arabia - a nation that restricts the rights of women in
02:33 a way that I'm certain Vince McMahon wishes he could.
02:36 She did have some nice things to say, though, like about Triple H, whom she calls in the
02:41 book "one of the better people on the business side".
02:44 After the release of these sections of the book, Rousey posted an interview clip explaining
02:49 why she didn't spend more time trashing current WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard
02:54 and former head of talent relations John Laurinaitis.
02:58 She said there wasn't enough space in her autobiography to dedicate to a "f*** these
03:02 old bastards" quest.
03:04 She also called WWE a "sh*t show behind the scenes" and one "she has no intention
03:11 of returning to".
03:12 Speaking of leaving WWE, one of the longest tenured corporate names in the company has
03:17 exited - WWE's Executive Vice President of Live Events John Porco.
03:22 PWInsider have reported that Porco, who have been with the company since 1999, actually
03:27 left the company last month despite the news only being public now.
03:32 Prior to his role of EVP of Live Events, Porco held the title of Director of Marketing from
03:37 2002 to 2022, with three years as Public Relations Coordinator prior to that.
03:42 He will be replaced by Justin Scalise, who was previously Senior Vice President of Live
03:47 Event Marketing.
03:48 Porco is just the latest top executive to leave WWE following the TKO merger with the
03:53 UFC, completing last September.
03:55 But now it's time for my review of AEW Dynamite… in about 5 minutes.
04:01 To distract from Toronto's lousy, smarch weather, I saw your sign and I love it, the
04:07 show started with Mercedes CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO, CEO,
04:18 Manae introducing her own video package.
04:21 What is this?
04:22 2019 WWE?
04:23 It was to explain where she's been for the last two years, just in case you don't watch
04:28 the Mandalorian or New Japan Pro Wrestling - where she suffered a near career-ending
04:32 injury at the hands of Willow Nightingale, again teasing that feud.
04:37 But before then, she seems more set for the TBS-verse, as its champion Julia Hart with
04:43 Sky Blue went to attack Manae, but she was saved by their Street Fighter opponents for
04:47 later in the night, Chris Statlander and Nightingale - where Willow had a few lingering moments
04:53 holding a chair behind Manae's back.
04:56 Backstage later on, Chris thanked Mercedes for saving Nightingale last week, but when
05:01 Willow tried to apologise for the whole ankle break thing, Manae fobbed her off.
05:06 The first match of the episode, however, was Eddie Kingston defending his Continental Championship,
05:12 but not the Triple Crown Championship.
05:15 So not the New Japan Strong or Ring of Honor World Championships against Kazuchika Okada.
05:22 Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed.
05:23 It's so strange seeing Okada as such an old school Ric Flair-like heel begging off
05:29 from Eddie at points, only to sucker him into something like a DDT on the outside for him
05:34 to then flash his huge evil grin.
05:37 I'm really enjoying it.
05:39 And to add to his new presentation even more, it then cut to the Jacksons on the production
05:43 desk - complete with Tony Khan cameo - who commanded a replay of that move.
05:49 Okada and Eddie had a really good match, with Okada simply gouging the eyes at the end to
05:53 hit a single Rainmaker to win.
05:55 But I do feel like there's a far more elevated match in them.
05:58 After all, this only had two weeks of build and went 15 minutes on TV.
06:03 I don't know if that's the direction AEW are going in, though.
06:07 Full transparency, I'm an Eddie Kingston superfan.
06:10 I think most segments in AEW should have everyone on screen asking 'how angry is Eddie Kingston
06:15 right now?'
06:16 Which, spoiler, is usually very, very angry.
06:21 But he lost his championship here.
06:23 Well, one third of the championship here.
06:26 The championship he was the inaugural winner of.
06:28 The one he fought as the underdog through AEW's first C2 tournament.
06:33 The one he successfully defended against Bryan Danielson.
06:38 And there wasn't a single shot of Eddie's reaction to his defeat.
06:42 Instead, Pat came immediately onto the ramp to set himself up as Okada's next challenger.
06:48 In summary, very good match, great that Okada won, making that the quickest AEW title from
06:53 debut to winning.
06:54 And I cannot wait for him vs PAC.
06:57 But I'm worried about Kingston plunging back down to Ring of Honor, and AEW just undid
07:02 their title unification, meaning we've effectively just got another belt.
07:08 Hook destroyed Chris Jericho in Jericho's latest attempt to get people to cheer him.
07:12 It didn't work, as they still booed when he almost got out the red rum before Hook
07:16 got an inside cradle to win.
07:18 Considering Hook's performance in this match, and that a recent resignation should trigger
07:22 a by-election, I say we elect Hook as the new mayor of Suplex City.
07:26 Jericho has a proposition for Hook next week, which will probably be they enter the tag
07:31 tournament.
07:32 Adam Cole cut a promo from his very big house in the country, saying he's disappointed
07:37 in Wardlow because I, I mean, Wardlow, should be AEW Champion by now.
07:42 Instead, he commanded Wardlow to effectively be the Undisputed Kingdom's henchman.
07:47 Which is quite the demotion.
07:48 I don't know if the newer, more badass version of Wardlow will accept that.
07:53 Will Ospreay cut yet another fantastic promo, apologising for being a heel the last time
07:58 he was in Canada, and replied to Bryan Danielson's line about stepping into his shoes, saying
08:03 he can't "they're too small.
08:06 Oh, what does that mean for penis size?"
08:09 He set up a match against Shibata next week.
08:11 Thunder Rosa blind tagged herself in, despite Deonna Purrazzo being mid-sequence.
08:16 The Jackknife pinned Toni Storm, positioning Rosa for a shot at the AEW Women's title
08:20 she never lost.
08:21 Swerve Strickland issued an open challenge to 'a big guy' - which probably should've
08:25 been a pissed off Wardlow, but I'm never going to complain when I get to see The Butcher,
08:30 aka Dr Robotnik on crack, wrestle a singles match.
08:34 Swerve won in what was effectively an enhancement match, getting over his new submission win
08:39 - some kind of triangle armbar.
08:41 He called out Samoa Joe afterwards, who obliged, and said the only way he's going to shut
08:45 Swerve up is to give him that World title singles match.
08:49 Don Callis interrupted to heat so loud you can barely hear him talk, which set up to
08:54 Kashda vs Swerve next week.
08:56 And then the main event saw Christian defending his TNT Championship against Adam Copeland
09:01 in a 'I… quit… no… match'.
09:14 The big match occasion really translated into reality, with the Toronto crowd chanting 'Holy
09:19 S' before they even locked up.
09:21 Both men took the description of a hockey fight and made it literal, with Copeland dressing
09:25 them both in hockey jerseys, sports, throwing Christian into a hockey goal, touchdown, and
09:32 Shane and Wayne whacking Copeland's puck with a hockey stick.
09:36 180.
09:37 And because they're all Canadian type Pokemon, it's super effective.
09:41 There was also a bunch of inventive TLC style references, with an Edge-o-matic on a ladder
09:46 bridge, a Christian splash on Edge through a table outside, and a barbed wire concerto
09:52 attempt.
09:53 The only thing I would've changed was that this should've been a TLC match rather than
09:57 an 'I quit' stipulation.
09:59 The patriarchy got involved, but Copeland's mates Daniel Garcia and Daddy Magic equaled
10:03 the odds.
10:04 They handcuffed Christian, Killswitch and Nick Wayne to the turnbuckles.
10:08 But even though Copeland swung his spiked paddle right into Christian's dick, the
10:13 father still wouldn't quit.
10:15 For me, though, that is your finish.
10:18 Having Christian say 'I quit' in front of both his sons after being metaphorically
10:23 castrated is a very poetic end to this feud.
10:27 Instead, Christian quit moments later.
10:29 Because Edge was literally going to kill him, running at his head with the spiked paddle.
10:35 It means Copeland won the TNT Championship in his hometown, and it makes two legit world
10:40 title wrestlers secondary title holders with him and Okada.
10:45 This week's Dynamite is 82%.
10:48 Now go please watch our WrestleTalk original on who really killed WCW by clicking the video
10:53 over there.
10:54 And if you've seen it already, watch it again and share it around.
