00:07 a new independent regulator that will preside over the game in this country. It will have
00:12 three core objectives in the running of football, which will be to improve the financial sustainability
00:17 of clubs, to ensure financial resilience across the leagues and to safeguard English football's
00:23 heritage. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described it as an 'historic moment' for football
00:29 fans, adding that it would help to avoid previous collapses seen at Bury and Macclesfield. The
00:35 EFL were also welcoming, stating that they saw it as an 'important milestone'. The
00:40 Premier League outlined concerns, however, regarding any unintended consequences that
00:46 could weaken competitiveness. The Premier League is, of course, under scrutiny given
00:52 how it is dealing with clubs who breach its controversial profit and sustainability rules.
