MPs are due to get a 5.5% pay rise in April. Do you agree they should get more money - why/why not?

00:00 No, I don't. I think it's got to be across the board. I don't think MPs should be treated
00:04 any differently to anybody else. NHS workers, police, fire officers, I think, yeah, OK,
00:11 if they're going to go at 5-5% then everybody else should, so come in line with inflation.
00:15 I disagree. They should get more money because already they have been satisfied and they
00:20 should rather look at other ways of improving on the economy, as it is right now. From the
00:26 statistics, we're going through a recession, that should be a much more important thing
00:30 to look at rather than pay rise for the MPs. It's a difficult one. As long as they're willing
00:36 to give all of the people that are in their charge, so people on benefits and things like
00:41 that, as long as they're going to give them the same uplift as well, then perhaps that's
00:46 necessary. MPs need to be paid the same as everybody else. Certainly doesn't seem like
00:51 a very easy job. So I would say maybe it is fair, but as long as everybody gets the same
00:57 uplift.
