Lover at Large is a 1991 paranormal romance film directed by Alexander Chan Mong-Wah (陳望華), starring Sharla Cheung Man (張敏), David Wu Tai-wai (吴大维), Sheila Chan Suk-lan (陳淑蘭) and Wong Yat-san (黃一山).
Yan-yan (Sheila) returns to Hong Kong for a summer reunion with her parents. However, she is distressed by her parents’ quarrels. From their quarrels, Yan-yan soon finds out that her mother, Lily Lam Po-lin (Sharla), love affair with a struggling actor, Leung Ho (David), in the past. Leung Ho loved Lily dearly. He even took his own life to protect her reputation.
Yan-yan arranges a seance meeting between Leung Ho and her mother. Something goes wrong and Leung Ho is stranded in the human world. Gradually, Yan-yan falls in love with Leung Ho. To her great dismay, Leung Ho shows his love to Lily only. Yan-yan thus helps him to be with Lily again. Yan-yan's father (孙兴 Hing Suen) is outraged. He calls on all celestial powers to send Leung Ho back to the other world. Yan-yan throws herself to protect him. She is killed. In order to give Yan-yan a new life, Leung Ho promises to return to ghost land and gives up any chance of a new incarnation, then Yan-yan revives.
