Following the victory, Armagh’s full back Aaron McKay said that the team ‘needs to be’ playing at Division 1 level, and Armagh’s strength in depth means that the in-house games at training can be tougher than the real matches sometimes.

00:00 Arron first and foremost congratulations you've earned promotion now back up to
00:03 Division 1 how good does that feel?
00:05 Yeah listen we're obviously devastated we got relegated last season and we're just delighted to be back.
00:10 And first thing I'm going to ask is if we can get back up to Division 1 that's what we need to be looking for.
00:14 And you know how tough Division 2 is of course the last time you were in Division 2 took a few years but you hit the ground running this year got points on the board and ultimately probably even getting better as you go do you feel like that's fair to say?
00:23 Yeah yeah and listen Division 2 has probably helped us to that we're not under pressure all the time playing the top guns in the country as well and we're still playing very good teams but we're able to blood new players as well like we've seen like Fionnuala Braid, Kae McComb and the boys like that there getting more game time they like so that's further down the road for us.
00:39 Certainly the strength of the squad is really strong this year the players coming in off the bench bringing quality in it must be tough at training?
00:46 Yeah in house games sometimes are I don't want to be disrespectful to either or sometimes there's a quality in both teams.
00:54 Yeah and then tonight again you know sort of first half had the win at your backs and got the strong advantage and how important was it to start fast and ultimately build that up you know?
01:03 Yeah listen it was a winner takes all kind of game and we knew there was a lot of pressure especially the way the conditions were here today like the team gets a lead and we didn't want to be the team that was playing against the breeze that would lead the chase so we tried to get pressure on them to quicken the club and get a lead and keep them tan flicking thankfully we were able to do that.
01:20 Yeah and at the other end of course you're part of that full back line six games no goals conceded how good of a stat is that then is that something that you're really proud to have and sort of focus on?
01:28 Yeah I wouldn't put it down to just the full back line like there's a lot of boys that can be slagging the floor sometimes that don't do enough but either way they'd be slagging me vice versa but like as a team unit when we don't have the ball we're all trying to keep the ball out of our net or not go over the bar so listen we're glad to keep the ball out of our net and try and put it in the opposition's net it's that simple.
01:45 Yeah of course and then Division 2 finally I know you have court next week but in two weeks time Croke Park Donegal again you had a great game against him here that finishing in a draw and that's really one to look forward to isn't it?
01:54 Yeah listen I suppose because the calendar show condensed now and you can probably let a bit of shackles off in that game because Tristan will not be worried if he comes on as a Division 2 so we know we're going up then we can even maybe play a few boys who haven't been getting game time in their legs yet like see legs are huge in the rain coming off like it'll be good to get them to settle in to the legs in Croke Park and hopefully then they go into the championships.
