00:00 I think it's going to be good actually, I think it's going to help develop Shields.
00:03 I think Shields has become a bit run down over the past ten years, you know, when you
00:06 come out on a Saturday it used to be really lively and I think moving the college into
00:10 the town centre is going to bring students here, it's going to bring business opportunities
00:13 as well, so I think it's going to be a really good development to have in the town centre.
00:17 I think it's a good thing, it's good educational isn't it, so it's good for the community.
00:22 I think it's good to have a new college, but I don't think it's good to have it in such
00:26 a big place like this.
00:28 If you need supplies or say your lecturer hasn't turned up, which often happens, you
00:35 can always pop into town, get some lunch, cheap lunch, you can have a look around and
00:42 I think that is ideal for transport as well.
00:46 I mean a lot of people don't think about that, but I think if it's all in one place, you've
00:52 got a lot of options as well.
00:54 I used to go to night college whilst I was at university actually doing a teacher training
01:02 course and I was right out of the way and I had to get a few buses by ten o'clock.
01:09 I was shattered because I'd worked all day, went to college on the night, it was so rural
01:16 and so dark and I never felt safe returning on public transport at that time of night,
01:22 so I think at town centre there's always things happening, there's always someone around
01:28 or a light, so I always felt safer.
01:32 Plus, with the students I think quite a lot of cafes open later as well, so I think that's
01:38 ideal.
01:39 And also, say if you've done art and things and you run out of your art supplies or books,
01:44 there's always like a bargains below and things like that, so there's always somewhere
01:51 to get much needed supplies sometimes, even if it's pen or pencil, because the number
01:57 of students that turn up without the basics, it's unbelievable.
