00:00 40 years of WrestleMania.
00:02 That's like more years than the world's been alive.
00:05 Just in time for WrestleMania Extra Large, we have gone through all 39 showcases of all
00:11 448 Immortals to find the very best match from every Mania.
00:15 At least WWE isn't trying to say this is the 40th anniversary of WrestleMania.
00:19 We don't need that headache again.
00:21 I'm Tempest Hailing from PartsFunKnown, and this is the greatest match from every
00:25 WrestleMania.
00:26 But before we get on with this list, please make sure that you like this video, hit subscribe,
00:30 and enable notifications to always on so you never miss a fun bit of WrestleMania list
00:33 content just like this.
00:35 WrestleMania 1 - Ricky Steamboat vs. Matt Bourne
00:38 WrestleMania 1 is not a show known for its in-ring quality, so a 5-minute match between
00:42 an all-time great and Ricky Steamboat and the underratedly great performer Matt Bourne,
00:47 aka the original Doink the Clown, takes the top spot.
00:50 WrestleMania 2 - The British Bulldogs vs. The Dream Team
00:53 There were only a couple wrestling matches on the pile of dog dirt that was WrestleMania
00:58 2, and conveniently, the British Bulldogs were involved.
01:01 Not sure I could look at the '92 U.S. Olympic Basketball team and the duo of Brutus Beefcake
01:06 and Greg Valentine and give them the same name, but it's not Michael Jordan's fault
01:09 he has to be compared to Brutus Beefcake.
01:12 WrestleMania 3 - Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat
01:14 The first all-time classic match in WrestleMania history, and the match that informed people
01:19 who only watched WWE in the 80s that in-ring wrestling can be good.
01:23 WrestleMania 4 - Randy Savage vs. Ted DiBiase
01:26 This isn't a great main event, or even a great match, but it is the only thing on the
01:30 show that really makes me feel alive when I watch it.
01:32 That might be because the show is almost over, or it might be because a wonderfully fitting
01:35 new world champion was crowned.
01:37 Take your pick.
01:38 WrestleMania 5 - The Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude
01:41 I can't tell you why, but the finish of this match has stuck with me ever since I
01:45 saw it as a wee lad.
01:46 Rude lays out across Warrior's shoulders, Heenan grabs the legs, and Warrior was f***ed.
01:50 It's not a great match, but I've seen this finish done dozens of times since, and
01:54 it's almost never this good as simple as it is.
01:57 WrestleMania 6 - Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior
02:00 It took six tries, but WWE finally had a classic WrestleMania main event on their hands with
02:05 Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior.
02:07 Not sure how many people would have expected that combo to be the one to produce such a
02:10 result, but the SkyDome got a treat.
02:12 WrestleMania 7 - The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage
02:15 Three straight appearances for The Ultimate Warrior is a bit surprising, but where better
02:19 to have the most sports entertainment match to ever sports entertainment than WrestleMania?
02:24 Five straight elbows from Macho, a kick out, a look to the heavens, a boot on the chest,
02:28 and the greatest WWE reunion of all time.
02:32 Are you not sports entertained?
02:35 WrestleMania 8 - Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage
02:37 It is appalling that this wasn't the main event of WrestleMania 8, but Hogan's gonna
02:41 Hogan.
02:42 Still, a fantastic 18-minute world title match was not commonplace at Mania, but was emblematic
02:46 of the direction WWE's in-ring product was heading.
02:49 WrestleMania 9 - Shawn Michaels vs. Tatanka
02:52 When an opener ending in a count-out is the best match of your WrestleMania, it might
02:55 begin to explain why people have been clowning on Mania 9 for the last 30 years.
03:00 WrestleMania 10 - Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart
03:02 For my money, still the greatest opening match in WrestleMania history.
03:06 A story beautifully told, a match expertly wrestled, and the snot-nosed kid brother getting
03:11 the win with a big ol' goober on his face.
03:14 Perfection.
03:15 WrestleMania 11 - Shawn Michaels vs. Diesel
03:18 This one is a good match on a wretched WrestleMania, but for as good as it is, it also fails at
03:23 its goal of getting Diesel over as the dominant champion he was meant to be.
03:26 Shawn Michaels was the star of the show, and Diesel kicking out of Shawn's finishing sequence
03:30 at one backfired badly.
03:32 WrestleMania 12 - Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart
03:35 Well, this entry should anger both the fans that love this match and the ones that hate
03:38 this match, because while this is the best match from WrestleMania 12, it is there because
03:42 of the two sweetest words in the English language.
03:45 "Default, default, default, default!"
03:48 WrestleMania 13 - Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin
03:51 There are one-match shows, and then there's WrestleMania 13.
03:55 An otherwise quite bad show that just so happens to have perhaps the greatest WWE match of
04:00 all time on it.
04:01 A match so good that it changed the trajectory of the careers of two of the most important
04:05 figures in WWE history.
04:07 A 10/10 classic.
04:09 All the stars.
04:10 WrestleMania 14 - Steve Austin vs. Shawn Michaels
04:13 Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels more or less went through their WrestleMania 14 main event
04:16 on autopilot due to HBK's back injury, with Austin even saying they did practically the
04:21 same match he and Triple H had been doing on the house shows prior, but even these two
04:24 on autopilot will produce a better match than 95% of wrestlers could ever hope to.
04:29 WrestleMania 15 - Steve Austin vs. The Rock
04:32 WrestleMania 15 is the perfect encapsulation of WWE in 1999, a f***ing abomination of an
04:38 undercard, ludicrous booking, but the most captivating main event scene of all time.
04:43 It's Austin, it's Rock, it's practically WWE folklore at this point.
04:48 WrestleMania 2000 - The Hardys vs. The Dudleys vs. Edging Christian
04:51 TLC 0 started the trend of the multi-man mania ladder match for undercard guys, and it would
04:56 earn this spot just with that distinction, but it also gave us one of the greatest table
05:00 breaks of all time, courtesy of Matt Hardy.
05:03 WrestleMania X-7 - Steve Austin vs. The Rock
05:05 There are about four real options for the best match of the best mania of all time,
05:09 but it's like I said earlier, it's Austin, it's Rock, and at WrestleMania X-7 they capped
05:14 off the most popular era in WWE history the only way appropriate.
05:19 Together.
05:20 WrestleMania 18 - Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock
05:22 When The Rock steps through the curtain and points at his goosebumps every time he's
05:25 appeared for WWE for the last 14 years, I think he's still waiting for them to go
05:29 down from this match.
05:31 WrestleMania 19 - Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho
05:34 While Shawn Michaels of the 90s may have been Mr. WrestleMania by name, Shawn Michaels of
05:38 the 2000s was truly Mr. WrestleMania by reputation.
05:41 Mania 19 has no shortage of excellent matches, but the return of the showstopper to his office
05:46 is too special to pass up.
05:48 WrestleMania 20 - Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit
05:51 A match that under different circumstances could be seen as the greatest WrestleMania
05:54 main event of all time.
05:56 Maybe it still is in your opinion, but for as great as this match is, it will always
05:59 leave a bitter taste.
06:01 WrestleMania 21 - Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle
06:03 My personal favorite WWE match of all time, and I don't think I can truly sum up my
06:08 love for it or the men involved in a couple of sentences, so just do yourself a favor
06:12 today and go watch this one.
06:13 Tempest, seal of approval.
06:15 WrestleMania 22 - Edge vs. Mick Foley
06:18 There may be no scarier sight in wrestling than Mick Foley slumped over in the locker
06:21 room listening to Tori Amos getting in the zone for a hardcore match, especially when
06:26 it produces the kind of WrestleMania-defining match we got in 2006.
06:30 Any doubts people had about Edge as a main event guy were put to bed here, and I salute
06:34 this match for that.
06:35 WrestleMania 23 - Money in the Bank ladder match
06:37 While the TLC tag team trio of 2000 introduced the world to the multi-man ladder match at
06:42 a WrestleMania, the staple of the 2000's WrestleMania ladder matches was the Money
06:46 in the Bank match.
06:47 Always a highlight of Mania, but none stole the show quite like the all-star lineup of
06:52 WrestleMania 23.
06:54 WrestleMania 24 - Edge vs. The Undertaker
06:56 And so begins the string of Undertaker WrestleMania show-stealing matches.
06:59 What do you do to a guy that has a counter to every one of your most iconic moves?
07:03 You choke his ass out with your brand new finish to the biggest pop of the match.
07:07 A truly perfect story.
07:10 WrestleMania 25 - Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker
07:12 From a perfect finish from a storytelling perspective to a perfect finish from a sheer
07:16 artistry perspective.
07:18 Maybe the most beautiful setup for a tombstone ever, after what might be the second most
07:22 beautiful setup for a tombstone earlier in the match for a near-fall.
07:25 A legendary match.
07:27 Also funny Undertaker face.
07:29 WrestleMania 26 - Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker
07:31 I mean, it's just as good as their match at 25, it just has Matt Stryker on commentary.
07:36 WrestleMania 27 - Triple H vs. The Undertaker
07:39 Every so often you are faced with a horrible dynamic in wrestling that can actually elevate
07:43 a big match, like the possibility that WWE and Triple H might actually be dumb enough
07:47 to end Undertaker's streak.
07:49 That, ladies and gentlepeople, is the fear that makes some of these near-falls just a
07:53 little extra spicy.
07:55 WrestleMania 28 - Triple H vs. The Undertaker
07:57 Triple H and The Undertaker were the masters of the Hell in a Cell match, yet they'd
08:01 never gone one-on-one in the cage.
08:02 So when it was announced that their long-awaited rematch from the year prior would be such
08:06 a match, with Shawn Michaels as the referee, it truly felt like an all-time dream match.
08:12 And it delivered.
08:13 WrestleMania 29 - CM Punk vs. The Undertaker
08:16 And so the string of Undertaker show-stealing mania matches comes to an end with really
08:20 the only good thing about WrestleMania 29.
08:23 CM Punk may not have gotten a main event mania, but he certainly did steal it.
08:27 WrestleMania 30 - Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista
08:31 The greatest feel-good ending to a WrestleMania of all time, and all it took was all the stars
08:35 in the Milky Way aligning and fans forcing it all to happen.
08:38 But don't let WWE hear you say that this wasn't the plan.
08:41 WrestleMania 31 - Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
08:46 It should not come as a surprise to people that the most acclaimed match that Brock Lesnar
08:49 and Roman Reigns had is the one where they both lost.
08:53 But in fairness, the match getting there was pretty much perfect as well.
08:56 WrestleMania 32 - Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch
09:00 After a disastrous start to the "Divas Revolution" copyright trademark, the "Women's Evolution"
09:06 copyright trademark kicked off in full force at WrestleMania 32.
09:10 Complete with the retirement of the Butterfly Belt, superstar entrances, and a show-stealing
09:14 match with the division's three biggest stars.
09:18 WrestleMania 33 - Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles
09:21 I don't think a WrestleMania opening match against Shane McMahon would be considered
09:24 by many to be a fitting reward after a Wrestler of the Year campaign and a stellar WWE title
09:29 run, but AJ Styles could turn water into wine, chicken s*** into chicken salad, and Shane's
09:34 punches into a great match.
09:36 WrestleMania 34 - Ronda Rousey vs. Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H
09:41 By all accounts, this should not have been as good as it was, but Ronda Rousey having
09:44 one of the best WWE debuts ever, being put over huge by both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon,
09:50 was exactly what it should have been.
09:52 Also, this was like the only time Ronda didn't wear the stupid eye makeup, so bonus points.
09:57 WrestleMania 35 - Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston
10:00 The culmination of the best bit of Daniel Bryan's WWE run post-retirement, and the
10:04 culmination of Kofi-mania.
10:06 A title win that should have come ten years earlier, but a match and a moment that will
10:09 forever be remembered.
10:11 As long as WWE gets over Bryan moving out, that is.
10:14 WrestleMania 36 - The Firefly Fun House
10:16 When the world shuts down and we can't see Superman take on the Big Scary Monster, you
10:20 pivot, you adjust, and you make a video essay in the form of a match.
10:24 This was every theatre kid's wet dream, and truthfully, one of the most brilliantly
10:28 told bits of storytelling WWE has ever produced.
10:32 WrestleMania 37 - Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair
10:35 It is a damn good thing for the sake of this match, that the builds to these matches are
10:39 not factored into the decision making process, because hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-fah.
10:43 That aside, this match is f***ing fantastic.
10:47 History making and legacy establishing for Bianca Belair, who in the years since has
10:51 made herself Miss WrestleMania.
10:54 WrestleMania 38 - Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair
10:57 Speaking of Miss WrestleMania, Bianca Belair skipped into WrestleMania 38 ready to right
11:01 the massive wrong that was her loss to Becky Lynch at Summerslam.
11:05 From the amazing entrances of both women, to the match that I recently re-watched and
11:09 was blown away at how much better it is than I remembered, and I remembered it being great
11:13 to begin with, this is one of the greatest women's matches in North American wrestling
11:17 history.
11:18 WrestleMania 39 - The Usos vs. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens
11:22 There was only one acceptable way to end the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 39,
11:27 and that was Sami Zayn pinning Jey Uso.
11:30 Everyone's favourite WWE story in literal years, culminating in the best possible match.
11:36 And that's our list!
