00:01 Igan, before we travel to the Czech Republic,
00:03 President Bongbong Marcos is meeting the Filipino community in Berlin, Germany.
00:08 Eight alliances that are related to military-grade armored personnel carriers
00:13 and solar cell manufacturing facility were signed by the Philippines and Germany.
00:18 We have live news, Rafi Tima.
00:21 Rafi.
00:27 Igan, it's early morning here in Berlin, Germany,
00:30 where the President just finished his last activity for his first working day here in Germany
00:37 after he helped the Filipino community.
00:40 Before this, the President also helped business leaders
00:44 where he received four billion dollars of investment.
00:54 President Bongbong Marcos signed eight alliances
00:57 after he finished his first working day here in Germany.
01:00 Among the MOUs,
01:02 the first is the construction of a plant that will make armor-protected cars
01:06 and military-grade armored personnel carriers and solar cell manufacturing facility.
01:10 The alliances will reach four billion US dollars or 220 billion pesos if they are successful.
01:16 The alliances are not direct investments,
01:18 but the government hopes that through the President's visit,
01:22 the leaders will be able to not only continue, but also increase their investments in the country.
01:28 Before the German-Philippine Business Forum,
01:30 German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made the President's arrival honors
01:34 when he arrived at the Chancellery, the office of the leader of Germany.
01:38 At the joint press conference of the two leaders,
01:40 the German Chancellor shared his personal experience of being a partner to the Filipinos.
01:46 When he was still a lawyer,
01:47 he defended the Filipinos who were seafarers.
01:50 He showed how important the Filipinos are in this field.
01:54 The two leaders also gave the importance of adhering to international law.
01:58 According to President Marcos,
01:59 the Philippines is open to discuss the issue of the West Philippine Sea,
02:03 but it should be in the right context.
02:06 The President reminded that no one recognizes the 10-dash line of China
02:10 that they based on the annexation of a large part of the South China Sea.
02:17 We have not rejected any proposals that China has made to us.
02:21 But the premise is something that we question.
02:26 And that premise that China has made is that their territory
02:31 follows what is now described as a 10-dash line.
02:37 This is not recognized by any country, any international body,
02:42 certainly not by the Philippines.
02:44 We have the economic zone that China has already intruded upon.
02:54 And until that premise that China has made,
02:58 in terms of all its discussions with the Philippines,
03:01 then it's very difficult to see a way forward.
03:05 Respect for international law is of the greatest importance for us.
03:08 And the same is true for the laws, international law,
03:12 open international navigation.
03:14 We have the UN Convention on the Law of the Seas.
03:18 We've got an arbitral tribunal.
03:20 I believe it to be very important that each and everyone
03:23 adheres to the legislation in place.
03:25 We support Philippines in ensuring that the rights are being protected.
03:29 The President thanked the Filipino community
03:35 for their continued contribution, not only to the economy of the country,
03:39 but also to the Philippines.
03:41 Therefore, the government will ensure that the rights of the OFWs,
03:46 wherever they are in the world, are protected.
03:48 The ability and skill of our OFWs is truly unparalleled.
03:56 Therefore, we must ensure that their conditions are good,
04:01 their salary is correct, they have time for rest and vacation.
04:06 They are treated with respect and are given the right benefits
04:12 that are in accordance with the law here in Germany
04:15 and wherever our countrymen are.
04:18 Alongside the assistance of President Marcos to the OFWs,
04:24 some militant groups protested outside the venue.
04:28 They were guarded by the police.
04:31 This morning, President Marcos was able to go to a gas and turbine plant
04:35 before he faced the Philippine media,
04:37 before he left for the Czech Republic for his state visit in Prague.
04:42 That is the latest from Berlin, Igan.
04:45 Thank you very much.
04:46 Rafi Tima live from Berlin, Germany.
04:49 Be careful.
