The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has condemned the racist remarks allegedly made by a top Tory donor. According to the Guardian, Frank Hester, who has given £10m to the Tories in the past year, made racist comments about leftwing MP Diane Abbott at a meeting in 2019, including that she made him "want to hate all black women". Mr Khan said the comments were "clearly racist and despicable." There has been increasing pressure on the Conservatives to return the money donated by Mr Hester. "There should be no place in British political life for these sorts of comments," Mr Khan added. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00 I think these comments are clearly racist, they are despicable. I think they risk
00:06 Diane Abbott's personal safety. What I would hope the leader of the Conservative
00:10 Party would do, what I hope the Prime Minister would do, is call them out as
00:14 racist comments and return the money this man has given to the Conservative
00:19 Party. There should be no place in British political life for these sorts of
00:23 comments. The Conservatives accepted this money. The Conservatives not condemning
00:28 this is them condoning racism. That's not on.
