Several authors have sued Nvidia in California, accusing the company of allegedly using their copyrighted material to train its AI model. In the class action lawsuit, the authors allege their work
was used without permission by the chipmaker as part of a dataset teaching its Nemo language model written language. They are asking for damages and for Nvidia's dataset which includes pirated copies of their work to be destroyed.

In a statement, Nvidia claims it believes Nemo was created "in full compliance with copyright law".
