Birmingham's tourism industry continues to thrive. I'm here today in the city centre to ask people their thoughts on how they'd approach a holiday here in Birmingham - what attractions do the people here think makes the heart of England worth visiting?

00:00 If I was a tourist visiting Birmingham, I think the first place I would go would be
00:06 the Jewelry Quarter, then probably Chamberlain Square, to look at the municipal buildings
00:13 as much as anything else.
00:15 So it depends really, if you're a tourist coming to Birmingham, it depends where you're
00:19 actually from because Birmingham's a very diverse place, so there's multiple places
00:23 you could visit that could impress you.
00:25 So if you're an Asian, for example, there's a lot of Asian-based shops, you have Soho
00:31 Roads, places like that.
00:32 So I guess really, a better question to ask would be, where's the tourist from?
00:39 Because Birmingham's a very diverse place, everything about Birmingham could impress
00:42 a tourist because of the diverse area.
00:48 And it normally depends on the season that you're visiting, but just in general, I would
00:51 definitely come to see the Town Hall.
00:53 This brilliant architecture, you've got King Victoria's Palace, you can check that out.
00:58 Definitely the Birmingham Library, it's so amazing, you've got the best scenery out there,
01:03 you've got the Hidden Garden, you have to check that out.
01:06 That's just on the top of my head, but there are some hidden gems, so I would say I recommend
01:09 going to Chinatown, for example.
01:11 They have some really cool food there, some nice restaurants, so that's just what I think
01:15 I should do if you were to come.
01:17 I'd definitely try to go to Broad Street, see all the attractions there.
01:22 I think the Bullring is also a place I'd recommend people to go for the first time if they're
01:27 here.
01:28 But yeah, there's loads to do in Birmingham, so you'll never run out of stuff to do.
01:35 So I would go to Digworth, where they've got a dining centre there and it's full of graffiti
01:39 and walls and artists and it's a good tourist attraction.
01:43 And it's bright, colourful there, there's a lot of things to do there.
01:46 You've got golf, you've got plenty of different bars with different aesthetics and cultures
01:51 there.
01:52 And there's a lot of different music, so it's good for all around basically.
01:56 And where I would go to eat is probably Wingstop.
02:01 Wingstop's good.
02:03 To be honest, mate, I don't really know Birmingham that well.
02:06 I'd probably go to Bullring or something, or Grand Central, go get some food from there,
02:11 you know, have a little walkabout, browse the shops, you know what I mean.
02:14 And then, you know, just have a walkabout at the end of the day.
02:17 What's your opinion on that?
02:19 The library's sick.
02:20 The library's good, but I do think it's draining the old council's funds, you know what I mean.
02:25 But yeah, the library's quite good.
02:27 Big building, nice views from the top as well, you know.
02:29 I think the Mackie's on the ramp up there, that's a hot spot for just cuisine, man.
02:35 It's proper sophisticated up there.
02:37 Yeah, no, I agree.
02:38 Typically, yeah, yeah.
02:39 There are quite a few beautiful historical buildings that I would like to visit if I
02:46 came here for the first time.
02:49 And I think especially the museum, Birmingham Museum.
02:55 In the past, I know it's had a lot of beautiful art and artifacts as well from all around
02:59 the world.
03:00 So I think I'd recommend that.
