Sexually transmitted infection cases reported by patients have risen by 48 percent since 2021, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.
ECDC director Andrea Ammon reported 70,000 cases of gonorrhea and over 216,000 cases of chlamydia had been reported in the previous calendar year, sparking alarm.
‘By prioritizing testing, treatment and prevention efforts, we can turn the trend and safeguard the health and wellbeing of our communities,’ said Ammon.
