00:56:23 just waiting eagerly at the end of the ice to be called out.
00:56:28 Still just waiting for the results of Jordan first.
00:56:33 And this is usually the time when the athletes and the coaches kind of talk a little bit about
00:56:45 how the skate went, what the coach saw, what worked,
00:56:49 what maybe needs to be a little bit improved.
00:56:53 [crowd noise]
00:57:01 The scores for Jordan Bedlam.
00:57:04 She has earned 25.39 points, which puts her in fifth place.

00:57:23 So great to see the improvements.
00:57:25 And we've got Allie Ryan taking to the ice.
00:57:29 Our final competitor in this category represents the St. John's Court Zone.
00:57:35 Face Washington Bay Ice, Allie Ryan.
00:57:39 There's no real theme to Allie's music.
00:57:42 It's done by an artist called Lindsey Stirling.
00:57:45 She probably chose it because it's fast and energetic.

01:01:01 And Allie was the final skater in the Juvenile Women's Program.
01:01:05 Allie won bronze at the 2023 Atlantic Championships
01:01:10 and has qualified for the Atlantic again this year
01:01:12 after placing fourth at this year's Provincials.
01:01:16 Allie is also competing at Synchro Nationals.
01:01:19 I think that's already taken place.
01:01:21 February 24th to the 26th in Waterloo.
01:01:24 Allie loves to compete and perform and enjoys the fitness aspect of skating.
01:01:29 And it says here she loves to run up Signal Hill in her spare time.
01:01:34 That would be a feat for me.
01:01:38 I'm glad that she's able to do that.
01:01:40 That's got to be--that's her off-ice training that keeps her in top physical condition.
01:01:47 Her personal best score for this program today was 23.09.
01:01:53 And we're just waiting on the results for Allie.

01:03:06 Data input operator is Angela Pike.
01:03:09 And our video replay operator is Rebecca Smith.
01:03:15 And again, this is the pre-novice Elite Men Free Program.
01:03:18 We've got four skaters warming up on the ice.
01:03:21 We've got Adam Masich, Landon Kelly, Jonathan Flynn, and Matt O'Donohue.
01:03:26 [MUSIC]
01:03:37 In the Elite Men, they get a maximum of six jump elements.
01:03:41 Maximum of two spins.
01:03:45 And they get a maximum of one step sequence.
01:03:48 They must fully utilize the ice.
01:04:03 I think Adam is going to be our first skater up out of this category.
01:04:13 And once again, ladies and gentlemen, we're broadcasting live here on Rogers
01:04:18 from the Mike Austin Arena here in beautiful Lewisport, Newfoundland
01:04:21 as part of the 2024 Newfoundland-Laboratore Winter Games.
01:04:27 Rogers has been doing a great job with live streaming of many of the events all week long.
01:04:34 And we're here at the figure skating in Lewisport.
01:04:39 Most of the events have been happening in and around our host community of Gander.
01:04:44 Because of the -- we have a single ice surface in Gander,
01:04:48 we've moved the figure skating to Lewisport.
01:04:52 Just a short drive away from Gander.
01:04:55 And utilizing the arena out here.
01:05:02 And I think the last time that the Winter Games or any part of it was held in Lewisport
01:05:07 was back in 1990.
01:05:09 So good to see some element of it back in Lewisport.
01:05:27 And we've been broadcasting here live all day.
01:05:29 And if you have been experiencing some technical difficulties,
01:05:34 it's mainly due to the Internet service that we've had here.
01:05:37 We've had some difficulties with a drove today.
01:05:40 We do appreciate you tuning in and bearing with us through some of our difficulties.
01:05:47 We're doing the best we can.
01:05:49 We've got a great team of volunteers here today.
01:05:53 Manning our cameras.
01:05:55 Keeping track of the skaters on the ice.
01:05:58 Trying to give you the best coverage that they can.

01:06:40 They give them a warm-up.
01:06:42 It's a six-minute warm-up.
01:06:43 They usually try and give them a one-minute notice when the five minutes is up.
01:06:49 Sometimes the judges lose a little bit of track of time.
01:07:05 You notice the skaters.
01:07:06 It's a great opportunity just to practice some of the elements.
01:07:09 Could all the skaters please leave the ice?
01:07:11 Your warm-up is now over.
01:07:12 Could all the skaters please leave the ice?
01:07:16 Once again, this is the free anonymous manning.
01:07:19 Combined elite manning.
01:07:21 Free program.
01:07:22 Our first skater represents St. John's, North Dakota.
01:07:26 Please welcome Adam Masich.
01:07:29 This is Adam Masich.

01:10:53 Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Masich.
01:10:57 Great skate by Adam.
01:11:00 And Adam represents the Prince of Wales Skating Club.
01:11:04 His coaches are Wendy Mercer and Colin Chansky.
01:11:09 Adam was a silver medalist at the provincials and sectionals
01:11:12 and a member of the 2023 Canada Winter Games team.
01:11:18 Adam loves the outdoors, especially kayaking and fishing.
01:11:22 Also martial arts, including karate and kendo.
01:11:25 In his spare time, he does pottery and loves walking his dog, Yerky.
01:11:34 Adam's personal best score for today's program has been 42.13 points.
01:11:40 He does a lot of training throughout the week,
01:11:42 averaging about 10 hours per week training on the ice.
01:11:48 So these young athletes are certainly dedicating a lot of time to their sport.
01:11:54 And it shows.
01:11:56 To get out and perform some of the elements with the skill level that they do
01:12:00 is just extraordinary.
01:12:03 We congratulate them all.
01:12:04 And being part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games
01:12:09 is just a fantastic experience as well.
01:12:19 And this is the pre-novice men, the combined elite men free program.
01:12:24 We just watched Adam Masich of the Prince of Wales Skating Club
01:12:28 perform his program.
01:12:32 And he's just in the kiss and cry section waiting for his results.
01:12:44 Got a nod of approval from Adam.
01:12:46 He seems to be pretty happy with that score.
01:12:48 Good for him.
01:12:51 Our next skater waiting to get called out is Landon Kelly.
01:12:56 He's from the Mount Pearl Paradise Skating Club.
01:13:08 Welcome to the ice, representing the Mount Pearl South region, Landon Kelly.
01:13:15 And Landon is going to be skating to the music "Heart Upon My Sleeve" by Imagine Dragons.

01:16:27 - And a powerful skate by Landon Kelly.
01:16:34 Landon represents the Middle Pearl Paradise Skating Club.
01:16:39 His coaches are Neil Thorne,
01:16:41 Lori Brett and Brittany Morgan.
01:16:43 Landon has won numerous medals,
01:16:49 mostly gold at every level of his competitive career.
01:16:52 He won gold in the juvenile skate
01:16:54 at the Atlantic Championships in Paradise last year.
01:16:57 He most recently won gold in both categories he skated at,
01:17:00 at the provincial championships in Corner Brook
01:17:02 just a few weeks ago.
01:17:03 I was there and I watched him.
01:17:05 Some interesting facts about Landon,
01:17:07 he loves riding his quad and dirt biking.
01:17:09 He can fix just about anything that goes wrong
01:17:11 with either of them.
01:17:12 He also repairs bicycles in his spare time.
01:17:14 Landon also plays hockey at a high level
01:17:17 and is the captain of his under 14
01:17:19 MCHL Goulds Pacers hockey team.
01:17:24 So Landon obviously spends a lot of time on the ice,
01:17:27 figure skating and hockey.
01:17:30 But great to hear that he's got other interests
01:17:32 outside as well.
01:17:33 His personal best for the program skated today
01:17:37 has been 30.01 points.
01:17:39 And he's just waiting with his coaches
01:17:44 for the results of today's program.
01:17:48 Ladies and gentlemen, if you notice the programs
01:17:52 have gotten a little longer with the elite men,
01:17:54 we're now at a three minute program.
01:17:56 Plus or minus 10 seconds.
01:18:01 So the skaters have a three minute time frame
01:18:05 to perform all the elements that they need to perform
01:18:09 at this level.
01:18:10 You'll notice there's not a whole lot of time
01:18:15 being wasted on the ice.
01:18:17 They're transitioning from element to element
01:18:19 pretty quickly.
01:18:20 In an effort to get as many elements
01:18:22 and get as many points as they can.
01:18:25 While we're waiting for the results of Landon,
01:18:33 we've got Jonathan Flynn,
01:18:35 also from the Mount Pearl Paradise Skating Club.
01:18:38 He's taken to the ice.
01:18:41 And once we get the results from Landon's program,
01:18:47 Jonathan will be called out.
01:18:49 - This is for Jonathan Keck.
01:18:52 He has earned 31.53 points,
01:18:55 which currently puts him in second place.
01:18:58 - We got some nods of approval there,
01:19:00 so he's happy with those results.
01:19:02 And next up is Jonathan Flynn.
01:19:08 (crowd chattering)
