00:00 Anti-Nazi campaigners say there has been a surge in anti-Semitic vandalism at Holocaust
00:04 memorial sites in Germany. Swastikas and slogans have been dot on signs at the former concentration
00:10 camp in Buchenwald. There have been similar incidents at several other sites across the
00:16 country, particularly in regions where the far right AFD party is strong.
00:23 "Whoever demands a racist society, whoever represents ideologies of inequality, must
00:30 condemn the teachings of the time of National Socialism, must lay the axe on the memory
00:36 culture. And that is why these attacks on the memory culture and memorial work from
00:43 the AfD are taking place."
00:44 Buchenwald is in Thuringia, where the AFD has a growing popularity of 30%. The AFD denies
00:50 it is anti-Semitic, but its leader in Thuringia, Beorn Hocka, is facing prosecution for allegedly
00:55 using a Nazi slogan in a speech.
00:58 "We are not anti-Semitic, we are anti-Nazi."
