00:00 The prosecution has filed an appeal against the move to set aside the conviction and sentence

00:06 of former Felda chairman Issa Samad for graft.

00:10 Issa was found guilty by the High Court in 2021 for nine corruption charges involving

00:14 3.09 million ringgit and was sentenced to six years in prison and fined 15.4 million

00:19 ringgit.

00:20 However, the Court of Appeal unanimously allowed Issa's appeal against his conviction and

00:25 sentence yesterday.

00:28 Attorney General Ahmad Teri Rudin Saleh confirmed that a notice of appeal was filed at the Court

00:32 of Appeal registry today.

00:34 The prosecution will now await the Court of Appeal's full judgment before filing its

00:38 petition of appeal to the federal court to state where it had erred in law and facts.

00:43 Yesterday, Justice Vazir Al-Amaidi Miraz said the High Court had committed an appealable

00:48 error warranting intervention.

00:51 As such, he said the appeal was allowed and the conviction and sentence quashed.
