00:00 Never play these emotions for laughs.
00:02 Like, you need to feel that these people are really going through these, like, true emotional things at that moment.
00:06 So, I loved writing that.
00:07 "I'm Just Ken" is like nothing we've ever written ever before, and probably nothing we'll ever write again.
00:13 Hi, I'm Mark Bronson, and I'm nominated for Best Song for "I'm Just Ken" from Barbie.
00:27 I keep my one statue, I keep it, I'm very, it's obnoxious.
00:33 I keep it on the living room mantel where everybody can see it.
00:36 Like, I'm sure there's some people who, you know, like, more like, "Yeah, it's in the study."
00:41 Mine's like, "No, it's right there."
00:43 I feel like maybe Lady Gaga kept the envelope.
00:51 It was fun, though, because the other night at the Grammys when I read Record of the Year,
00:56 I remember walking off stage and being like, "Wait, I'm still holding this.
00:59 I should give it to Miley or, you know, Tom, who wrote the song."
01:02 So, it was kind of like a sweet moment to, like, hand that to somebody to give an award to your friends.
01:07 I haven't prepared anything yet.
01:13 I think Andrew's more quiet.
01:15 Like, he's like the finniest of the bunch.
01:18 But I would love to hear Andrew say something.
01:20 Which one's more fun?
01:25 I mean, they're both amazing.
01:26 I mean, the Grammys was so great this year as well because the performances were so amazing.
01:31 But I think that, yeah, the Oscars has, like, a prestige on another level.
01:36 I mean, there's this piece of score that we wrote called "You Failed Me,"
01:45 and it's like when Ryan's on top of the Hummer and he's having his big meltdown,
01:49 and then it goes all the way through to when Margo kind of, like, has her thing,
01:53 and she kicks her shoes off and falls over.
01:56 We were just, like, so moved by all these performances.
02:00 And the whole thing that Greta always wanted us was to, like, never play these emotions for laughs.
02:04 Like, you need to feel that these people are really going through these, like, true emotional things at that moment.
02:08 So, I loved writing that.
02:10 So, I really am proud of that.
02:12 I'm just kind of like, nothing we've ever written ever before, and probably nothing we'll ever write again.
02:18 And it's a crazy song.
02:21 I remember every time that I went into the editing suite when we were working on "Barbie,"
02:24 there were always these giant bags of things to floss your teeth with.
02:29 Greta's really fervent about, I guess, flossing and all this stuff.
02:33 And I just thought that was just so cool, and I was like, "I need to floss more."
02:37 So, that would be, like, a topic of small talk, just to turn to John Williams and be like,
02:41 "What's your flossing kind of schedule?"
02:45 Ryan. Yeah, I think he's just so great in the film.
02:49 I think, you know, I mean, everybody, really.
02:53 But Ryan's the one that, like, lifted up this song.
02:56 He's the reason that we're sort of there, I feel like.
02:58 I mean, other than, obviously, Greta Noah's screenplay, which created the entire world of it.
03:03 But I really, like, of course I'm partial, but I love all the "Barbie" stuff.
03:09 America, you know, I found everybody did such good work.
03:15 America, you know, I found everybody did such good work.
