Armagh's Paddy Burns spoke to the Newry Reporter following his team's 0-15 to 0-11 win in the Allianz Football League.
Transcript
00:00 Paddy, now you're shooting joint top with Donegal through five games, things going well
00:04 and how do you feel like the campaign's gone to this point?
00:07 Listen, we've got the points we needed so far, it would have been nice to have a clean
00:11 sweep but the Donegal game was tough going. Made hard work of that today I would say but
00:17 you know heavy pitch, heavy ground, we know the weather and stuff down here the last few
00:20 days so it's just tough to get moving on it and Romana make great use of it. But listen,
00:25 coming out of here with two points, we've always got a toughened Brewster so it's a
00:29 nice place to come and get two points.
00:31 Yeah and of course you would have been favourites going into the game but Romana really did
00:33 keep it tight throughout, probably just a case in that second half getting ahead and
00:37 then just trying to keep chipping away and just keep them at bay if nothing else?
00:40 Absolutely, it was one of them games where if we took our chances maybe early on it means
00:45 they have to come out and play a bit more but it's tight throughout the game. As I say
00:49 I've played Romana and Brewster maybe four or five times and I don't think it's ever
00:54 been not close. It's always a tough game, they always know this ground very well, they
00:58 know how to play it, they know where to shoot from, they know how to make it difficult and
01:01 that's always the case. I don't think we were expecting anything else. Favourites tags,
01:06 we don't write those but when you play for Man U and Brewster Park it's not an easy game.
01:10 Yeah and now five games played, no goals conceded, you're of course part of that full back line,
01:14 is that something that you pride yourselves on?
01:16 It is, yeah. You look at all the top teams and they don't concede many goals so it's
01:23 definitely something that we've worked on and we're trying to make sure that we don't
01:26 concede too but at the same time today we maybe let them get a few too many points from
01:31 out in that arc that we didn't get the pressure on so there's a happy medium there too in
01:36 keeping out goals but we also can't let them get the easy points from outside that arc
01:40 so we just needed to find that balance today. I think we got it a bit better in the second
01:44 half to be honest but yeah of course happy, no goals conceded, we'll take that. Probably
01:50 should have finished a few on the other side, myself included but we'll work on that as
01:53 well.
01:54 You looked a bit tired, you carried the ball about 50 metres by the time you kicked it.
01:58 My legs were gone, yeah I was sort of hoping someone would be off the shoulder to give
02:02 it to but I swung a leg at it and pity seeing it go the wrong side of the post but it happens.
02:08 Forwards missed a few in the first half so maybe they'll let me out missing that one
02:10 as well.
02:11 Yeah absolutely, it didn't cost you in the end, you still now, you've got Cavan coming
02:13 next, you win that game, you're up, you're promoted so obviously you'll get a week off,
02:17 two weeks until that game and that's another massive game and another massive opportunity
02:21 for Arma.
02:22 It's another team, Cavan and Fermanagh, two teams that we've never got it easy against.
02:26 You see the way they're playing, I watched them against me last night and they probably
02:30 lacked the quality that some of their games earlier in the league had but you could see
02:35 the pitch, you could see the conditions, it was very difficult, same as today so the legs
02:39 no doubt were heavy for both teams but you've seen nobody's beating them easy, Donny Gaule
02:44 beat them by a point, they've won their other games possibly a draw in there but yeah they're
02:50 playing really well, good forward unit, big strong fellas and nothing's going to be easy
02:55 in that game, just have to do our best.
