00:00 We're out in Beaufort today assessing the situation as fireys work to contain the fire
00:08 that started last week and still continues today.
00:12 Yeah, the weather has definitely changed since this morning.
00:16 It was a bit cool out in Ballarat and Beaufort and there was a bit of rain but now the heat's
00:22 definitely picked up and that wind change, very strong wind change has come through.
00:28 Beaufort itself is still pretty deserted, most shops are closed and there's very few
00:34 locals milling about.
00:36 There's some emergency service workers basing themselves out of the Beaufort CFA station.
00:42 Yeah, we had a chat to them just about their containment strategy and we've seen a lot
00:48 of graders and bulldozers which have been used to contain the fire.
00:53 At the Beaufort Oval there was a contingent of fireys from New South Wales.
00:59 We had a chat to some crews from the Northern Beaches who took about 14 hours to come down
01:05 here.
01:06 They're going to stay overnight and assist efforts.
01:09 They said they're happy to help out.
01:10 They've seen Victorian fireys out in New South Wales and yeah, they're happy to repay the
01:15 favour.
01:16 So yeah, the wind's definitely picked up and we'll just have to see from here where the
01:22 fire goes.
01:23 Just came across everything that's happening, big emergency and yeah, the career.
