00:00 The government is looking into the possibility of partial operability of the Metro Manila Subway from Valenzuela to Ortigas by 2028.
00:08 For now, we will continue our discussion for the first segment of the subway.
00:13 May 1 news, Joseph Morong.
00:16 One of the solutions to the heavy traffic in Manila is the Metro Manila Subway Project.
00:24 To make sure that the project will go straight, the Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and the Finance Secretary Ralph Recto visited.
00:31 This is part of the first segment of the subway.
00:34 It is expected that by May this year, the tunnel will be completed up to the Quirino Highway.
00:38 In July of this year, only 200 meters or 0.2 kilometers will be completed.
00:43 The tunnel is already more than half a kilometer long here in the Metro Manila Subway.
00:48 According to the Department of Transportation, it will be operational in 2029.
00:52 But the agency will look into the possibility of partial operability in 2028 from Valenzuela to Ortigas.
00:59 We'll need to look at the ridership.
01:02 Even if it's deep, there's ventilation inside.
01:05 Sir, it's a bit cold here. So, this means that when it's operational, the system will be like this?
01:10 Yes, sir.
01:11 This is the ventilation system that comes from the outside. It will go inside.
01:18 Once the project is completed in 2029, it is expected that more than half a million people will use it daily
01:25 from Valenzuela to the end of this station in Bicutan.
01:29 Although the project is owed to JICA, the government needs to pay P30 billion for the right-of-way for the passage of this place.
01:39 The Finance Department assured that the program will continue.
01:43 I'm confident that there are resources available to finance the right-of-way for this project.
01:50 This is the first news. Joseph Morong for GMA Integrated News.
