Two people have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a hit and run left a jogger in a 'critical' condition in hospital. The man, believed to be in his 50s, was struck by a van in Norris Green, Liverpool, at around 6.30 pm on Sunday.

The cost of fire and rescue services across Merseyside is on the rise. Fire and rescue authority members are recommended to approve an increase of the precept of almost 3%. The increase equates to a rise of £1.76 a year for a Band A household – the rate paid by most council taxpayers across Merseyside.
