Todd Gilliland: ‘It’s good to run up front’ after leading at Atlanta and Daytona

Todd Gilliland reacts to leading laps at Daytona and Atlanta as the No. 38's performance has been high in the first two points-paying races of 2024.

00:03 Such a strong 38 you had today.

00:06 What happened there at the end?

00:07 >> Yeah, it really takes every move to be perfect.

00:11 We kind of pitted.

00:12 We got a little bit back in traffic.

00:13 I really felt like we were still right where we wanted to be.

00:16 I just made one or two wrong moves at the end.

00:19 Got back a few rows and then the wreck happens and I end up getting some damage.

00:23 So yeah, it definitely sucks.

00:25 I feel like I ran a really good race up until that point.

00:28 Up until it counted.

00:30 I'm really disappointed with myself on that.

00:31 But overall, the emphasis that this team has brought such a good Georgia peanuts, dark

00:37 horse Ford Mustang.

00:39 The Mustangs are fast.

00:40 So I'm really happy about that and really just super excited for what the future of

00:45 this season can bring.

00:46 >> You mentioned the future of this season.

00:47 So far your stats, you have led laps in both of the races that have paid points this season.

00:52 Daytona and Atlanta.

00:53 This is also the most laps that front row motorsports has led as an organization in

00:57 a single race.

00:59 Momentum going forward, how do you feel about the next couple of weeks?

01:02 >> Yeah, like you said, obviously leading laps at super speedway type races isn't necessarily

01:07 what our main focus is.

01:10 But last year I didn't lead a single lap anywhere, anytime.

01:12 So yeah, it's good.

01:13 It's good to run up front.

01:15 And like I said, our cars are getting faster and faster.

01:19 It's about gaining respect to the guys around us.

01:20 My confidence racing around those guys.

01:23 I think both these weeks, hasn't shown on the results page, but there's still a lot

01:27 of positiveness that we can take out.

01:30 But we've got to start getting the results in.
