00:00 President Bongbong Marcos signed several laws in favor of senior citizens

00:05 and in supporting the products of the Philippines.

00:12 Yes, Connie. President Bongbong Marcos signed two new laws this morning.

00:21 First is the TATAC-Pinoy Act, which according to the President,

00:25 is a show of concrete support for the ideas and products of the Filipino workers.

00:29 Under the law, the TATAC-Pinoy Council will implement a multi-year strategy

00:36 in five important areas.

00:38 First is human resources.

00:39 Second is infrastructure.

00:40 Third is technology and innovation.

00:42 Fourth is investments.

00:43 And fifth is sound financial management.

00:46 All of these are in order to keep the Filipino industries in the market.

00:52 One important aspect of the law is the mandate to support

00:55 the products and services of the Filipinos in government procurement.

00:59 Meanwhile, the law that extends the Centenarian Act was also signed

01:03 to give benefits to octogenarians, or those over 80 years of age,

01:08 and nonagenarians, or those over 90 years of age.

01:12 Under the new law, grandparents will receive P10,000

01:16 on their 80th, 85th, 90th, and 95th birthday.

01:20 And of course, when it comes to their 100th birthday,

01:24 it will still be P100,000 under the Centenarian Act.

01:27 Since 2016, more than 900 centenarians have benefited from the law.

01:35 And under the new law, more will benefit,

01:38 estimated to reach more than 900,000, those over 80 and 90 years of age.

01:45 Meanwhile, Connie, Magna Carta for Seafarers is not included in the signing.

01:49 In the first announcement of Malacanang, this was one of the laws to be signed.

01:54 But it was reverted at the last minute,

01:57 according to Presidential Communications Office Secretary Chelo Garafil,

02:00 under further review, this law.
