02:04 As this initiative consolidates the programs of these two agencies on urban agriculture,
02:11 I am confident that we will further increase our capacity to take part in our goal to address poverty,
02:18 ensure food security, and protect the environment even at the barangay level.
02:25 According to DILG NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin,
02:30 the program is running well. In fact, out of 1,700 barangays in NCR, 1,200 community gardens have been established.
02:40 That is why they are continuously encouraging the public to join urban farming even with simple methods.
02:46 Our advocacy is continuously increasing awareness.
02:50 In those areas where there is no space, we have methods on how to do urban gardening using vertical gardens.
03:00 The agency also emphasized the importance of replicating the effective methods of other barangays.
03:07 That is why other barangays also came forward to get ideas for their own urban farm.
03:13 We adapted their process and setup. This is a big help for us.
03:20 DILG continues to assist the Agriculture Department to strengthen the Hapag Project.
03:27 Kenneth Paciente, for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
