00:00 Luke Shaw has been an influential player over the recent run of form. What's the latest
00:11 on his injury and when can fans expect him back on the pitch?
00:16 Well, potentially not again this season. The club confirmed on Wednesday night that he
00:23 has picked up an injury and is going to be out for an extended period of time. I suspect
00:28 Derek Tenehag will talk about that in Friday's press conference. But for now we just know
00:32 he's going to be out for a while. We're talking months and of course we've only got three
00:37 months left of the season so there's really not much time in that regard. The Athletic
00:42 did a report that said it's going to be 12 weeks. 12 weeks from this week is exactly
00:45 the final week of the season. So that could be a season done really. If they were to get
00:49 the FA Cup final it could be an option but are you going to bring him back after that
00:54 amount of time off? I suspect not. It causes a big issue for United mainly because the
00:59 recent run of form has been based on getting players back from injury. They got Casemiro
01:03 back, Shaw back and Lysandre Martinez back. They thought great they're going to push on
01:07 now and now Martinez and Shaw are injured again. It's been a big factor for United's
01:12 left side building up. They struggled for left footed options, they don't have players
01:16 for that role and now suddenly they've got Martinez and Shaw out again. I think it's
01:20 a big blow for United in terms of the way they play. Two really, really important players.
01:24 I think up there of the five most important players in the club Shaw and Martinez would
01:30 certainly be in that group. So it's going to be really, really frustrating with that.
01:35 But to add insult to injury, they don't have another fit left back. Tyrone Molassi is injured.
01:40 They allowed Sergio Reguilón to go back to Spurs, his parent club. They cut Shorten alone
01:45 in January because Shaw and Molassi were coming back from injury. Now Victor Lindelof has
01:50 played at left back for the last two games. So yeah, it's a really concerning situation
01:55 for United, especially as they're starting to build up some really good form. I think
01:59 they'll be concerned about what their left side is going to look like. And even when
02:02 Molassi comes back, I don't know how much he's going to be able to be rushed in straight
02:06 away. I think he'll need a bit of time. I suspect what we will see going into the next
02:11 couple of weeks is when Aramon Basak is fit again, he'll play right back. Diogo Dalot
02:14 will play left back. And that's how it will go on. But I don't think that's an ideal situation
02:18 for United. And they will be really, really disappointed that Luke Shaw is out for a prolonged
02:22 period of time.
