00:00 The Philippine Sports Commission has promised that the training of Filipino athletes who will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics will not be wasted.
00:10 In the midst of the possibility that the Philippines will be banned from participating in large sporting events due to the lack of compliance with anti-doping rules,
00:19 My report, Oscar Oida.
00:24 Vanessa Sarno, who was assigned to a tournament after March, has already started her training.
00:31 If she can get enough points, she will be able to enter the 2024 Paris Olympics.
00:37 I will just maintain my top 5 in the ranking.
00:40 But Vanessa's Olympic dream and that of other Filipino athletes,
00:44 It is possible that the Philippines will be banned if it is forfeited.
00:48 Because of the lack of compliance with the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency or WADA,
00:55 the agency recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
00:59 Asian Games Jiu-Jitsu Gold Medalist, Ani Ramirez, hopes that the ban will not be continued.
01:07 I hope that it will be approved so that the possible sanction that WADA will give to the Philippines will not happen or continue.
01:17 According to the Philippine Sports Commission, some of the WADA's targets are the ability of the Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization to facilitate the necessary anti-doping tests.
01:30 They're comparing us to the other countries, okay, which have like 22 plantilia positions.
01:36 We only have one plantilia position in Finado and one which is consultant and then two COS.
01:45 They're also comparing us to funding.
01:48 We asked for 48. Finado asked for 48 million for this year and we only received 10 million.
01:56 On the testing alone, we already have 12 to 14 million.
02:00 So if you can say, it's not enough.
02:02 Everything is being clarified. We are talking with WADA every week and together with PSC and POC, we usually meet them.
02:10 For now, PSC is already negotiating with various agencies, even in Malacanang, to address the budget shortfall.
02:19 PSC is also saying that our campaigns will not be able to qualify for international competitions like the Olympics.
02:28 It's still business as usual for all the athletes. From now until June, those who are qualifying for the Olympics, nothing is jeopardized.
02:37 I hope that there will be a certainty that I can play.
02:41 It's a waste if I can't play in the Olympics.
