00:00 The leader took a trip to the Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall on Thursday morning, where
00:06 a special guest was holding a private meeting with our local councillors.
00:10 New South Wales Governor Margaret Beasley spoke with council for more than an hour on
00:15 some of the region's most pressing issues, including housing, water security and the
00:20 renewable energy transition.
00:21 Governor, how's your trip to Tamworth been so far?
00:26 Oh, just wonderful.
00:27 Thank you.
00:28 Excellent.
00:29 I've only been here for an hour, but so far if it keeps going like this, it's going to
00:33 be a really exciting day.
00:35 Excellent.
00:36 Thank you so much.
00:39 Thank you.
00:40 She genuinely does care about our regional communities, and you can see that in the conversations
00:44 we had here today when we talked about what our challenges were.
00:48 She was right across them, and of course, what are all the good things that are happening
00:53 in our region.
00:54 She's very interested in, and I said to her when she left, "You'd better come for country
00:58 music and I'll get you a guitar."
01:01 After the meeting, Ms. Beasley continued touring Tamworth, making stops at local schools, the
01:07 Country Music Hall of Fame, and finally delivering a personal thank you to emergency services
01:11 volunteers at the Rural Fire Service.
01:20 After leaving Tamworth, Governor Beasley will now be heading up to Inverell and Eurella
01:24 to continue her work in the region.
01:26 This has been Jonathan Hawes for the Northern Daily Leader.
01:30 Thank you.
