00:00 If you were to win today, did we all get a black card?
00:03 So we're here for the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2024.
00:07 Specifically, we're all here for the beating heart of the Community Award.
00:11 So I'm really excited to be here. I write about restaurants.
00:15 I think great food can really enrich a community.
00:18 I lead diversity and inclusion at Deliveroo. Great to be here.
00:22 As probably one of Deliveroo's biggest customers,
00:25 putting 80% of profit into the business,
00:27 it's time we really dish out a good award.
00:30 Sombrero is an Australian franchise.
00:37 It is more than just a business.
00:38 Every breed or bowl sold in any of our restaurants, a meal is donated.
00:41 Currently, we're at over 75 million meals donated worldwide.
00:45 This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the happiest day.
00:47 We had over 360 volunteers turn up and we bagged 100,000 meals.
00:51 I thought he was really impressive.
00:54 Giving people's meals, paying it forward.
00:56 He put that across beautifully.
00:58 We are a husband and wife team.
01:01 After opening our shop and speaking to local residents,
01:04 we approached our council about putting on a market.
01:07 I think it's one of the best things we've done so far.
01:10 That's terrific.
01:11 We're also offer work placements to young adults
01:13 who suffer from social anxieties.
01:16 We had a young girl, she literally could only give her name.
01:18 She's now left college and is in full-time employment.
01:21 It's because of people like you
01:24 that these kids can go out in the big wide world.
01:26 So, like, thank you.
01:27 Thank you.
01:28 Thank you.
01:29 Wow.
01:30 They've become a huge part of the community
01:31 and they want to enhance it.
01:33 Hi.
01:35 Good morning.
01:36 We've got here for you our Wasteless Sourdough Bread.
01:39 One third of that loaf is yesterday's unsold bread
01:42 that would have otherwise gone to waste.
01:45 People are trying to lessen that impact
01:48 and you've done the hard work for us.
01:50 They were very good.
01:52 The sustainability angle is so deeply embedded
01:55 in how they do business.
01:56 So baked in, no pun intended.
01:58 Hello.
02:01 Hi, everyone.
02:02 So, Pride obviously came in June.
02:03 I'm not familiar with it.
02:05 So, we partnered with two artists.
02:08 We used our platform to bolster their careers.
02:11 So, giving them that exposure.
02:12 This was a university campaign.
02:14 People could scan the code
02:15 and it would give them a toolkit, as it were,
02:17 to help cope with loneliness.
02:19 For us, we were able to see the number of people
02:21 that actually clicked through using the QR codes
02:23 and now we're following up with them this year
02:25 to do an even bigger campaign.
02:26 Keep doing what you're doing, this is working.
02:28 Cheers.
02:29 They are sharing that platform
02:31 and kind of using it for good.
02:34 I mean, all four finalists were just incredible, right?
02:36 So good.
02:37 Now we're here to pick a winner, right?
02:39 So, we've talked about our four finalists.
02:45 They're all going after something really good.
02:47 What do you guys think?
02:48 For me, it's Happy Mondays.
02:49 I sat here and I listened to them talking
02:51 and I felt renewed, I felt inspired.
02:54 I have to agree with Jimmy.
02:57 That place really is the beating heart of the community.
02:59 The fact that they actually came in
03:01 from outside of that community
03:04 and created such a home is just so beautiful.
03:08 But for me, I'm going to have to toss my hat in
03:11 with the three of you.
03:12 I think we have a unanimous verdict.
03:15 So, the winner of the Beating Heart of the Community Award
03:18 is Happy Mondays.
03:20 I love it.
03:21 Nice.
03:23 We want free coffee!
03:25 (laughing)
