00:00 >> All right, Brody, talk us through what the third base competition has been like
00:05 this offseason.
00:06 >> It's been open.
00:08 There's been no one, from the beginning, there was no one set at their base.
00:12 We knew the competition was gonna be pretty hard with Jack Corman and
00:15 then Ryder.
00:16 We know coming back in, we know they're both good.
00:17 So I just wanted to do it with an open mindset.
00:19 I'm just gonna play my game.
00:22 If I come out on top, I come out on top.
00:23 And if I'm not, I'm gonna be a great teammate to them.
00:25 And just do what we need to do.
00:28 >> The last two games, you hit the ball really well.
00:30 How have you been seeing the ball so well?
00:32 And how does that give you confidence going forward?
00:35 >> It definitely gives you a lot of confidence stacking them together.
00:38 But I mean, I'm just trying to get on top of the fastball and
00:40 not saying anything else.
00:41 So, yeah, my confidence is growing for sure, just stacking them up.
00:46 >> And how have you felt about your defensive performance so
00:48 far in third base throughout this season?
00:50 >> I mean, I've got a few balls, but I feel like it's been okay.
00:52 I can do better for sure.
00:53 If I play more over there, I'll get more comfortable for sure.
00:56 But right now, I'm just settling in on there.
00:59 >> And when you come in in the fifth inning of a game like you did on Sunday,
01:03 and it's a back and forth battle, bases loaded.
01:05 Like the second inning, you're in there and you get two balls hit at you.
01:08 What's going through your mind at that moment?
01:10 >> Don't drop it.
01:11 Make a play, I've done it a thousand times.
01:14 So just take care of the baseball and throw it around.
01:17 >> What's Coach Bruce's message meant to you this week?
01:20 >> Play my game, do what I need to do, do what I know how to do, and
01:23 play the type of baseball.
01:23 So that's what he said.
01:25 >> Brody, when you're not in the starting lineup,
01:26 what are you doing to stay ready just in case you do have to come in in
01:29 the mid-inning of a game?
01:30 >> Just running down, keep my legs loose,
01:32 just making sure I know what batters have done so far.
01:34 Just keep track of that, send this bun in, play the ball a lot.
01:37 I'm really just trying to stay locked in.
01:40 That's about it.
01:42 >> 4-0 in a couple of really competitive games.
01:45 How's the energy been so far?
01:47 >> It's been really, really high.
01:48 Guys are still behind each other.
01:49 We've been down a couple games, and we've never felt like we've been out of
01:52 the fight ever.
01:52 And we're just battling back and playing our baseball.
01:54 So it's like we're behind each other, playing a lot of golf, and so
01:57 it's good right now.
01:58 >> How important do you think these close games early will be as you progress later
02:02 in the season, getting the experience?
02:04 >> I think it's gonna be a lot.
02:05 It's gonna be a lot of help towards the end, cuz down the road,
02:07 games get tighter, mean a lot more.
02:10 So winning these early on, just a lot going forward,
02:12 a lot of just growing towards knowing how to do.
02:15 We're still not playing the type of baseball we know how at 100%, so
02:18 eventually we're gonna start.
02:19 Thanks for watching!
