00:00 Okay, you need to pay attention to this video because these two motorcycles right here might be the best value in motorcycling
00:07 Right now. This is triumphs speed 400 and this is the scrambler 400x
00:13 This bike is
00:15 5,000 bucks and this one is
00:17 5,600 bucks so the differences for the scrambler are just a handful of things to make it a scrambler first thing
00:24 It's got 21 inch front wheel a taller tubular handlebar that's much wider
00:28 It has a little grill for the headlight for some protection
00:31 It's got a protection on the radiator for rocks and that's pretty much it other than that
00:36 They are very similar obviously besides the measurements, so we're in Spain
00:41 We're gonna go for a ride, and I'm gonna tell you why these are such a good deal
00:44 And then I'm gonna tell you which one you should get
00:55 All right, so we're back so why are these two motorcycles the best value in motorcycling right now well
01:02 Let's start with the price obviously this one is
01:05 $4,995 five bucks less than five grand that is
01:11 Crazy that you can get into a triumph now for less than 5k this one
01:16 $5,595 so 600 bucks more, but you get a lot of added on features making it a scrambler
01:24 You compare that to some of the other models in this range some of them are like a thousand dollars more to even
01:30 $1,500 more and they are nowhere near as nice as these two motorcycles
01:36 And I think that is the second point of these bikes is the fit and finish
01:40 Triumph has always been known for its paint for its fit and finish just
01:45 Their quality every time you sit on a triumph or look at a triumph
01:51 You're never disappointed and that goes for these motorcycles as well
01:56 These motorcycles are half the cost and even a third of the cost of some of the other triumph models in the range
02:02 And if you put them side by side
02:05 You can't really tell the difference you can't find the places that they cut corners really maybe on the levers a little bit
02:11 Maybe on the dash, but other than that the paint amazing the hardware amazing fit and finish killer nice tires
02:19 Like these things you are not going to be disappointed with the way they are put together and the way they look
02:26 amazing
02:28 number three that
02:30 Engine that little single has so much torque at the bottom
02:35 It makes it so much fun and so easy to ride around town
02:39 Then you get up in the mountains and you can rev it out and you can feel that thing pull out of the corners
02:44 I was riding around in fourth gear for a lot of the day in some fairly tight corners
02:49 Which is pretty amazing. They do have kind of short gearing which is fine because they're an entry-level motorcycle
02:55 You don't need to be going over 100 miles an hour on these motorcycles. So with that shorter gearing they have really nice acceleration
03:01 And they really put the twenty seven point seven pound-feet of torque to the ground really well
03:07 And they really use it awesomely up top starts to sign off
03:11 But when you get into that eight thousand rpm range to start to sign off
03:16 But it still pulls for a while longer and on the speed. I did see 100 miles an hour. So
03:22 Good enough. That's faster than you need to go anywhere in the United States at highway speed the
03:28 Scrambler ran 70 miles an hour at like 6,000 rpm and this one at 70 miles an hour is like 5,500 rpm
03:36 So, you know, you still got a few thousand rpm to play with above normal speed limits
03:41 number four the chassis these things are
03:45 Amazing for the price just once again non adjustable suspension
03:49 So when you think non adjustable suspension, you're like, oh man, okay. Well, it's cheap
03:53 It's gonna be a little soft or it's gonna have not the best stamping
03:59 It's gonna have some too quick a rebound usually on on non adjustable rear ends
04:04 And so these things are dialed amazing
04:07 Amazing settings on these bikes excellent hold up in the corners on both bikes rebound is dialed front and rear
04:15 there is no pogoing on these bikes and
04:17 Compression is very very good. It's not harsh and it's not soft to where it blows through the stroke really fast
04:24 They really really did their work on the chassis and it shows both of them were excellent
04:30 I have nothing to complain about in the suspension whatsoever
04:34 Handling wise with the suspension the speed 400 is quick. It's agile
04:39 It tips in so easily so nicely but controllable it holds its line perfectly
04:45 You need to make a line change mid-corner. It just does it like you just think about it and it moves
04:50 It's really really an excellent handling motorcycle scrambler
04:55 Not as amazing but pretty darn good
04:58 It's definitely takes some more effort to get it to tip in and I think that has a lot to do with the gyroscopic
05:04 Effect of the larger front wheel and maybe the tires in combination
05:08 It just wants to like bite you a little bit as you get in the corner
05:11 But then once you're in the corner, totally fine scrambler is good
05:14 Speed 400 is great
05:17 and number five
05:19 Comfort both these bikes are extremely comfortable for what they are sport classic motorcycles have always been very comfortable
05:27 They're upright, but they're sporty enough to where if you're gonna go and you're gonna go carve it up
05:31 You can easily work with the bike and you're in a kind of a sporty stance
05:35 But when you're cruising around town or whatever, it's very upright. It's very comfortable
05:39 It works really well the seats on both these bikes. Excellent
05:43 The one-piece seat on the speed 400 is comfortable road for half a day on it
05:47 Never even a twinge of discomfort on the scrambler same exact thing the two-piece seat. Excellent
05:54 Both of them total comfort grips. They're really nice grips the handlebar reach the bars on both of them
06:00 Are perfectly suited for their segment
06:04 I really don't have anything to complain about in the comfort other than on
06:08 The speed the seat to the foot peg is a little cramped for someone that's maybe above 510
06:15 But if you're a smaller rider, it will fit you perfectly speed 400 has a thirty one point one inch seat height
06:22 Whereas the scrambler has a thirty two point eight inch seat height
06:25 So there's a lot of difference in that section and the scrambler has a little bit lower foot pegs as well
06:31 So there's a lot more room on the scrambler. So if you're a larger rider, this is the bike
06:35 That's gonna fit you really well and most riders are gonna put this one really well
06:39 So overall those are the main reasons that these things are an insane value right now new rider
06:46 Someone's getting back into motorcycling or someone that's just like I don't want to spend a lot of money
06:50 But I want a really good motorcycle. I'm sending them straight to the Triumph dealership
06:55 so
06:56 if you love the style of a scrambler and
06:59 You're gonna do a little bit off-roading or you want to hit the dirt roads every once in a while
07:04 Scrambler is definitely your ride, but know that you're gonna give up some really nice handling from the speed
07:13 New rider and you're never gonna see off-road
07:16 Absolutely should get the speed 400. This thing is an insane deal at $49.95
07:22 And this is the bike you should get so that does it for our review of triumphs speed 400 and scrambler
