00:00 Chinese designer Susan Fang is inspired by nature. Her designs, often made from
00:06 tulle and lace, represent gentle beauty. For this collection she drew inspiration
00:12 from the air and the sea. What home means to different species?
00:16 We feel, especially in this period now, we hope to bring a sense of possibility of peace and harmony to the world
00:25 and then to understand the concept of home. I've migrated a lot since I grew up and I noticed that where love is, is where you feel home.
00:34 Fang was born in Ningbo, China, but also spent a lot of her childhood in North America.
00:39 She now splits her time between London and Shanghai. Her set was brought in from China and she says her heritage plays a big part in her work.
00:47 China is very adaptable to change, so my parents were always very open for me to travel wherever my passion or creativity is.
00:56 So I think that's also the beauty of China now. It's so fast, there's so much, the best technology, the best manufacturing, and also the openness to different cultures.
01:07 Her designs have caught the attention of influencers and music stars.
01:11 And next up is a collaboration with American lingerie giant Victoria's Secret. That will hit stores in China in April.
01:18 And while the Fashion Weeks in Milan, in Paris and New York are said to favour luxury powerhouses,
01:23 London is globally renowned for championing new and emerging talent.
01:28 The British Fashion Council has an initiative aimed at new talent called NewGen,
01:32 and its CEO described London Fashion Week as a hotbed for young and international designers, and particularly Chinese ones.
01:39 One recipient of the NewGen initiative is Yuhan Wang.
01:43 It's quite challenging as an emerging designer to present a collection at the London Fashion Week.
01:51 I never thought about it before when I was studying at Central Saint Martins.
01:55 It's like a dream, because in the beginning if you build a collection, loads of work, and you need a big team.
02:05 Her designs focus on feminine power.
02:09 This season's collection has a legal theme, paying homage to the likes of Sandra Day O'Connor,
02:15 the first woman to serve as a US Supreme Court Justice.
02:19 Wang says she wants to empower women through fashion.
02:22 I feel that these women are so brave.
02:26 Their courage and empathy in their heart actually inspires generation by generation.
02:36 Fashion meets science in Chinese brand Momonari's London Fashion Week debut.
02:41 Almost half of the collection is made from industrial manufacturer 3M's Finselate material that mimics natural feathers.
02:49 Momo's metallic flowers are her signature, and she's hand-painted maps on the designs to reflect her love of hiking, a passion she discovered in London.
02:58 So for this season our inspiration is men.
03:01 We just want to encourage more people to explore more, to explore new experiences.
03:08 Momo was given the honour of opening Fashion Week, so what's the verdict on her debut?
03:14 I think the use of the different textiles and colours was beautiful to see.
03:18 I think they're beautiful. I think they're so beautiful to think about. That's what's so important.
03:22 Fang, Wang and Momo are among a growing wave of Chinese designers making their mark in the world of fashion.
03:29 And fashion experts predict that after impressing in London, the next step will be making an impact in the style capital of the world, Paris.
