00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. More wet
00:04 weather on its way from the southwest through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
00:07 The Met Office has issued warnings for heavy rain across western and southern
00:11 parts of Wales and the West Country. A slight ridge into Wednesday morning
00:15 brings cold air towards the northeast and this is your warning zone. You could
00:19 see 50 to 70 millimetres of rain over the hills but it clears quite swiftly
00:22 towards the east as we head through Wednesday afternoon. Still blustery
00:26 though and the air turns colder particularly across more northern and
00:29 western areas. This is an active cold front through Thursday will bring some
00:33 heavy pulses of rain with heavy showers to follow towards the north and the west
00:37 turning wintry over the higher ground. Now let's backtrack to Tuesday evening.
00:43 The legacy of cloud and rain remains across central and southern parts of
00:47 England and Wales. Colder air towards the northeast of Scotland as showers become
00:52 confined to Shetland and then you can see here that cloud and rain arrives and
00:56 pushes quite quickly northwards and eastwards. So a wet and windy end to the
01:01 night across many areas. Some heavy pulses of rain can't be ruled out. Mild in the
01:06 south, a cold start to the day towards the northeast where we're seeing more
01:09 cloud. Perhaps some brighter skies for Shetland, certainly dry here with a
01:13 driving wind. But that rain marches towards these parts quite quickly
01:16 through the day. Again these bright echoes representing some heavy pulses of
01:20 rain so some high rainfall totals associated with this but notice a
01:23 clearance coming in from the west around lunchtime for Northern Ireland. Western
01:27 Scotland as well but that rain just lingers on across more central and
01:31 eastern areas again associated with a strong wind. And then through the
01:34 afternoon brighter skies from the Midlands northwards. Showers across the
01:37 north and west of Scotland clipping Northern Ireland. We hang on to more
01:40 cloud across more southern areas. Even the odd pulse of rain can't be ruled out
01:44 here. Temperatures will go around 12 degrees Celsius. Now through Wednesday
01:50 evening and overnight some clearer skies, certainly chilly in shelter across
01:55 eastern parts of Scotland, North East England. Whereas further west the wind
01:59 picks up again and this is an active cold front which will move across
02:03 Scotland and Northern Ireland towards Northern England and Wales. At the same
02:06 time more cloud and rain returns to more southern counties so a wet end to the
02:10 night here. But notice this front here is active. We're going to see a lot of heavy
02:16 rain for a time. It's moving from the west towards the east through Thursday
02:20 morning. So again some tricky conditions on the roads through Thursday morning
02:24 rush hour. This is the cold front associated with it. It's clearing
02:28 Scotland and Northern Ireland but showers will follow and these showers
02:31 could turn wintry over the higher ground but more wet weather to come through the
02:35 morning into the afternoon across England and Wales. Even with the odd
02:38 rumble of thunder and certainly we could see some thunder and lightning
02:41 associated with these showers towards the far northwest. In between some
02:45 quieter conditions even some sunshine. Eastern Scotland not doing too bad
02:49 towards the end of the day but further showers running in across England and
02:53 Wales. As we see this rain become confined to the Midlands, East Anglia as
02:57 well as the southeast. But showers always the name of the game across more
03:01 northern and western areas. So wherever you are you're likely to see some wet
03:05 weather over the next few days and some of it could be impactful certainly if
03:08 you are traveling. I'll see you later.
