00:00 The Philippine Sports Writers Association Forum, the Philippine Sports Commission, and the Philippine National Anti-Doping Agency
00:08 met to find out the state of the country in the World Anti-Doping Agency.
00:12 This is Daryl Oclares of PTV Sports.
00:15 The pending case of the country in the World Anti-Doping Agency, or WADA, was discussed in the newly editioned Philippine Sports Writers Association Forum.
00:26 The forum was first attended by Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richard Bachman,
00:31 PSC Executive Director Paolo Tatad, and Philippine National Anti-Doping Agency Head of Testing Operations, Nathan Vasquez.
00:38 The Philippines is facing a possible ban on international sports competitions because it did not comply with the WADA Code.
00:45 According to Vasquez, the court has already placed the corrective actions to resolve the case of the country that the WADA has already raised in the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
00:55 Based on the Code compliance, there are four main points that we are working on.
01:01 First one is the testing distribution program.
01:04 Second is the athlete biological passport.
01:10 And third is the registered testing pool selection.
01:14 Fourth is the results management.
01:16 One of the points that the WADA is raising in our case is the positive professional boxer of 2016.
01:23 But the court and PSC did not ask for a jurisdiction.
01:27 So according to Tatad, they submitted a position paper regarding this issue.
01:32 For the corrective action on the professional boxer, we already submitted our position paper,
01:39 disputing that the boxer is not a jurisdiction of the PSC.
01:44 Because he is a professional, he was neither an amateur nor a national team member.
01:49 There are various points on the fight book placed abroad.
01:53 It was handed over to us.
01:55 He's a professional fighter and all of that.
01:57 So we certainly submitted our position paper.
02:00 And the submission of this position paper was actually guided by WADA legal.
02:04 Backman also gave a D that the FINADO should be given enough funds to become independent from the PSC.
02:12 In this way, FINADO's programs will be strengthened so that the current case of the Philippines in WADA will not happen again.
02:20 On a personal note, I just don't want to comply.
02:23 We want to help FINADO be one of the strong NATO's in the region.
02:29 So we are actually asking NATO for funding for planting the position.
02:35 FINADO and PSC are hoping that this case will be resolved soon to give the chance to the national athletes to flag our flag in the Paris Olympics.
