Transcript
00:00 The national team skaters are now preparing for the Downhill and Street Luge World Championships
00:07 that will be held in Tagaytay starting on February 22.
00:11 This is the story of Daryl Oclares.
00:13 After the successful Southeast Asian Street Skateboarding Competition this month,
00:20 a big skate event will be held here in the Philippines.
00:23 The Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships
00:28 will be held from February 22 to 25 in Tagaytay.
00:31 The country will be the subject of the competition of the Filipino skateboarders
00:35 Rydel Grace Abarico and David Chanco.
00:38 It is said that Abarico won the Ginto in Thailand's Topical Downhill Race 2023 in November,
00:45 while Chanco finished in fourth place.
00:48 That's why the two national team skateboarders are going to show their skills here in the Philippines.
00:54 Since this is my first time in the Philippines, I'm a bit nervous.
00:58 The pressure is high.
01:01 I don't want to fail, especially here in the Philippines.
01:06 I'm just afraid of failing, but I'm doing my best to win it.
01:13 Less pressure because I've been skating that hill since I was 15 years old.
01:18 I'm feeling very confident about it and just hoping to not make a mistake.
01:25 I'll be super fine going into it for sure. No pressure at all.
01:31 Abarico and Chanco called for support from the audience in their fight in Tagaytay starting on Thursday.
01:38 Hello, everybody, especially the people from Tagaytay.
01:43 Hope to see you. I hope you support us in the upcoming competition on February 22 to 25.
01:50 Support us because we will be representing the Philippines for the World Championship.
01:56 So, yeah, hope to see you there.
01:58 For me, I just want to say keep doing what you love and God is good.
02:05 Daryl Oclares for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
