00:00 You know I was the first female comedian ever on your show?
00:03 Oh my gosh.
00:04 Isn't that amazing?
00:05 I think I did know that.
00:06 Yes!
00:07 Thank you for doing that.
00:08 Amy Schumer is responding to criticism of her puffier face.
00:13 Following her recent appearances on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and The View to promote the second season of her show, Life in Beth,
00:20 the comedian takes to her Instagram February 15th to address online comments about her changing face, writing,
00:27 "Thank you so much for everyone's input about my face.
00:31 I've enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years.
00:37 And you're right, it is puffier than normal right now."
00:40 Amy then goes on to explain the changes are related to her ongoing battle with endometriosis, saying,
00:47 "I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about.
00:52 There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now, but I'm okay."
00:57 The 42-year-old continues, "I also believe a woman doesn't need any excuse for her physical appearance and owes no explanation.
01:05 But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you're in."
01:11 How is the baby doing? How old is your son?
01:13 Oh my gosh, he will be five in May.
01:17 Yeah, I'm very, did you see how I knew my son's birthday? I don't know if you are.
01:22 It's in Goday Mayo, so it's like I can never forget it.
01:26 Yeah, thanks. It's not a big deal. I'm just like a great mom.
01:30 The actress who welcomed son Gene with husband Chris Fisher in 2019 ends her post with her signature mix of honesty and humor, writing,
01:39 "Like every other woman/person, some days I feel confident and good as hell, and others I want to put a bag over my head.
01:47 But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this TV show I created, wrote, started, and directed.
01:54 Maybe, just maybe, we can focus on that for a little."
01:58 And this isn't the first time Amy has been candid about her health struggles.
02:02 Back in September 2021, the Emmy winner shared with her followers that she had her appendix and uterus removed following an endometriosis-related surgery.
02:12 The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis here with my appendix.
02:21 The endometriosis had attacked it. There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus.
02:29 The Life and Beth star then shared an update on her health journey following the intense surgery in December 2022 on an episode of The Checkup with Dr. David Agus.
02:39 Do you feel better now?
02:41 Yeah, yeah. It was like I felt like a new person. It was incredible.
02:46 How quick?
02:48 Right away. Right away. It was just like this, yeah, it just felt like someone lifted this veil that had been over me and I just felt like a different person, like a new mom.
02:57 And so if the tradeoff is that you will have a little scar in your belly button and one right next to it, I think scars are cool.
