00:00 [Sounds of a motorboat engine]
00:20 [Sounds of a helicopter]
00:32 Just after 1.45am, New South Wales Ambulance was called to a crash on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at noon.
00:38 It was a large response from New South Wales Ambulance with nine ambulances, two toll ambulance rescue helicopters and a care flight helicopter.
00:47 We treated one woman in her 30s for multiple injuries. She was taken by air to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
00:56 We've treated a male for multiple injuries who was taken by helicopter to Westmead Hospital.
01:02 And then we treated a third male for multiple injuries and he's been transported to Liverpool Hospital by air in a critical condition.
01:09 There was another patient at the scene who unfortunately was deceased and couldn't be revived by New South Wales Ambulance paramedics.
01:17 Thank you.
01:18 Okay. Can we go into detail of some of the injuries, say for the female that was airlifted?
01:25 No, I don't think so. The Mexican government hasn't notified us.
01:31 Okay, and that's for all persons?
01:33 As far as I'm aware, yeah. So we need to go to the police maybe after that.
01:36 Sure, no worries. Can you reveal any information as to what appeared to have happened?
01:42 No, I can't. I signed a police investigation so I can't reveal a lot.
01:46 There were reports that the people in the van or the truck might not have been wearing seatbelts. Can you give any information about that?
01:53 No, we don't know what happened prior to us arriving. The patients weren't in any state to be able to give us a lot of information around that.
02:00 We just treated them for injuries.
02:03 Were there any cars like the one you were in? Were there all three of you in the van?
02:09 Yes, there were three males in the truck and one female in a car.
02:14 And the person that's deceased was in the truck?
02:17 Woodrover.
02:19 How did you respond to your patients and your family?
02:29 It was a large response. All our crews on scene did incredibly well.
02:34 We had a lot of good communication between the medical teams that arrived and the paramedics.
02:40 They're all obviously a bit hot and tired after what they've been through, but they're doing well.
02:48 And we're providing them with continuous support.
02:51 When did paramedics leave the scene?
02:53 I think we left the scene at about 4.15pm. That was the last resource left.
03:00 This site, there's often crashes in that area. We've seen multiple in that particular spot.
03:08 What advice would you give to drivers and other people on the road about staying safe?
03:13 Just drive to the conditions and always be aware of your surroundings.
03:20 I'm gonna have to leave it there.
03:22 Thank you.
