00:00 >> When you came up with that final idea?
00:03 >> Yes, so the first time the slip came in, it was denied.
00:10 That's a whole other story, but that's a good story.
00:14 And so we decided that we had a little time off and
00:16 that they were going through the process of interviewing and things like that.
00:19 So we took the family down, we took them down to the Disney World and
00:24 we were on the small world.
00:26 And eventually the slip got granted permission for the slip.
00:31 And so we're sitting on the spine, I've got our kids and my wife's on the other end.
00:36 We just sat down on the boat and we got a text from Coach Peterson,
00:40 basically said, hey Ryan, it's coach and we'd like to talk to you, that type of deal.
00:45 And I looked at my wife and I'm like, is this gonna be,
00:49 >> [LAUGH]
00:50 >> I'm gonna make the call, right?
00:52 And so you don't realize, I can't remember the last time I was on the small world,
00:56 but it seemed about half an hour, eventually got off and it worked out.
01:01 But yeah, so that's how it all, and then we were down there, it was really easy,
01:05 came up for the interview and all worked from there.
01:07 So yeah, it's pretty interesting how it all worked out.
01:10 >> Ryan, who are some mentors,
01:12 who have really helped you get to this point, who do you credit?
01:16 >> Yeah, so played and worked for Ed Ogeron.
01:21 He was a huge influence.
01:23 Pete Jenkins, defensive line coach for a long time.
01:27 Have to give some credit to Pete Carroll, my senior year at USC, he was the head coach.
01:33 And then there's been coaches and players over the years that,
01:37 there's so many people that you'd wanna mention one way or another,
01:43 but have been very blessed in that, have been around Monty Kiffin and Norm Chow.
01:50 Alex Gibbs, like all these guys over the years, and just when I was a younger
01:54 coach, I really didn't, I guess, understand at the time I was so young.
01:59 Kind of all the knowledge that when we were at Ole Miss and
02:04 these guys were coming in, Ogeron was the head coach of that.
02:08 And it was just a football education, and you kind of really didn't until years later,
02:13 you went back in your notes, you're like, man,
02:15 you're very fortunate to be at a place at that time.
02:19 Wish we could have won a few more games, but just for the football wise and
02:22 football IQ is, so that's kind of where the school.
02:25 But really, even with Arthur Smith last year,
02:29 Sean Payton, you pick and you bring things that you like from everybody.
02:38 And learned a lot from those guys, and
02:41 Sean was huge in the first opportunity of coaching in the NFL.
02:46 And so I'd be remiss not to mention him.
02:51 But yeah, I mean, I could go on and on.
