'Love and Translation’ Cast Reveals the Biggest Challenge They Faced Besides the Language Barrier

00:00 Aiti, besides the language barrier, what was the most challenging part for you?

00:04 When I was nervous, I was worried that other girls would take my video.

00:09 I was so nervous that I couldn't speak English.

00:14 I was surprised about the intensity of some of the women too,

00:19 because there's only three guys, there's a lot of girls,

00:22 so there's a lot of competition in this too.

00:24 The great thing about the girls is they all have translators,

00:27 and I can understand and they can understand each other.

00:30 But there's still that frustration, they're still trying to get their communication going.

00:34 But you will see, as you saw in the first few episodes,

00:36 the girls kind of know who they want to meet up with,

00:40 and then the jealousy is coming up.

00:42 The drama is starting to build.

00:44 The next few episodes, things are going to happen.

00:47 And I'm learning too as I'm watching too,

00:49 because I was there, but I didn't know these little moments were happening.

00:52 So it's going to get very interesting. Right, Aiti?

00:55 It was a challenge with the girls too, right?

00:58 I was so nervous.

01:00 Was there tension among the guys too?

01:02 There were some moments, but the beautiful thing about our relationship

01:08 is we worked through our tensions very quickly.

01:11 Because we were the only people who could actually speak and listen to each other,

01:16 so it really didn't make any sense to hold on to any grudges

01:19 or make enemies with the only people you can really speak to.

01:24 So we got over our issues pretty quickly, but yeah, there were a few moments.

01:27 You guys have a great bond.

01:29 Yeah, we do, even to this day. It's like a brotherhood.

01:32 We text each other almost every single day.

01:35 I love that.

01:36 When you walked into this experiment, though, you had no idea.

01:39 Oh, no.

01:40 So what did you think you were walking into?

01:42 I was under the impression, "Oh, I'm just going to meet a bunch of foreign women,

01:46 and we'll see what happens."

01:48 I had no idea that this kind of challenge was ahead of me.

01:52 I already thought, "Enough."

01:54 The challenge of going out into a new place and meeting women from different cultures

01:58 is already a challenge enough.

02:00 But I had no idea that this language barrier thing was coming.

02:03 So that was like blindside challenge right there.

02:06 So two massive challenges at once. It was pretty wild.
