00:00 So, Friday the 13th, Tuesday has passed and what a day it has been, especially for those
00:14 who live in the National Capital Region, the National Capital Delhi as well.
00:19 Needless to say, the traffic snarls that they witnessed today again after last week's protest
00:25 by the farmers in Noida area is something that they would remain for a long, long period
00:31 of time.
00:32 But this time around, as the day had started and as One India was bringing the latest news
00:38 to you from all across the northern part of the country, where the protests were marred
00:44 as of now, people and farmers trying to enter Delhi and the police bandh was trying to stop
00:51 them.
00:52 This is something that was known from earlier and the police presence, the kind of barricading
00:58 that was done was something that prevented the farmers from entering.
01:03 This particular story, this particular piece tells you about what all transpired today
01:07 in case you missed the highlights throughout the day.
01:10 We tell you how the day progressed.
01:13 Tuesday is something that is known to be a day of Bajrang Bali, Hanumanji, but all the
01:21 might this time around was shown from the farmer's side and equal might was shown
01:25 from the police personnel who actually were manning the three crucial entry points to
01:34 Delhi, the Singhu border, which is touching the state of Punjab and Haryana.
01:41 From there, the farmers were supposed to come in the Tikri border, again borders with Delhi
01:45 and Haryana and the Ghazipur border, which borders Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
01:50 These three were the crucial entry points where elaborate security arrangements were
01:54 being done, be it the barbed fences, be it the spikes on the road, the police barriers,
02:00 cement barricading, everything was in place.
02:04 Yet, Singhu border in Punjab became the flashpoint.
02:10 Today we saw visuals of tear gas being fired at the protesting farmers to scatter them around.
02:18 Needless to say, the way the protests happened in Singhu border and not far away from there
02:24 in Chandigarh, though, the meeting between the farming bodies and the government representatives
02:30 could not bear much fruit, could not come to a conclusion.
02:34 And hence this morning the action started.
02:37 Traffic jam is what everybody felt.
02:41 Everybody became a part of, had to spend a lot of time on the road itself.
02:48 Those living in Delhi and adjoining NCR regions had to bear the traffic snarl because of the
02:56 fact that traffic was not standstill, but the roads, which are normally two lanes or
03:01 three lanes, only one lane was kept open and the heavy vehicles were stopped at the entry
03:07 points, but the normal traffic was allowed to flow, but with a lot of restrictions and
03:12 hence the office going traffic.
03:15 You know, the problem happens when these strikes and protests happen on a weekday.
03:20 So more or less in bigger cities like Delhi or Mumbai, you would see that even if it's
03:23 a weekend, there is still traffic, but not as much as you would witness on the weekdays.
03:29 So today being Tuesday, I witnessed that kind of scenario.
03:33 A lot of political activity happening around these protests, the opposition, Aqab al-Din
03:38 or Asad al-Din OAC, all of them coming out saying the way the government is handling
03:43 the farmers is wrong.
03:45 They should not, you know, meet them with lathis or tear gas shells, rather talks should
03:51 be conducted.
03:52 So the government also came up with a reply that what is the need to come to Delhi for
03:57 talks?
03:58 Let the government come to you at your doorsteps, be it in Uttar Pradesh, be it in Punjab, be
04:02 it in Haryana, and then let's talk amicably and resolve the matter.
04:07 But the demands as of now about the MSP, about the land compensation, about the freedom of
04:15 the jailed supporters, the jailed protesters is also something that these protesting farmers
04:22 have been demanding and notwithstanding the blockade.
04:29 We saw a few of the farmers trying to take their tractors beyond or circumventing the
04:37 barricading and trying to break the law, if I may add it here, in order to make their
04:44 voices heard, in order to be captured on the cameras.
04:48 The host of media fraternity covering these protests today, both in the national capital
04:56 and in the adjoining areas, as far as in Punjab, also Sanghu border, as I mentioned, became
05:01 the flashpoint.
05:02 As far as the Ghazipur border is concerned, our reporters Ansh Pandey and Furkhan were
05:08 there early morning.
05:09 They sent us visuals which primarily showed us a restricted traffic movement and no particular
05:17 farming protest, farmers protest happened at the Ghazipur border.
05:21 Ghazipur border, once again, those who live here is in the eastern part of Delhi and borders
05:26 Uttar Pradesh.
05:28 Quite synonymous name for protests as far as the 2021 farmer protests are concerned,
05:38 Ghazipur border.
05:39 Tigri border, once again, entry point from Haryana.
05:43 We witnessed similar scenes but not much of protest sites there.
05:47 Heavy police presence at the border and last but not the least, Sanghu border.
05:53 Majorly remained peaceful but the nearby businesses there, those who have their shops in and around
06:00 that area, had to face harrowing time.
06:04 First the footfall of the customers went down because the borders were sealed and secondly,
06:10 the shops also had to be closed in a preventive manner and hence they complained that their
06:15 businesses have been affected.
06:17 So this is how it has been so far, Tuesday it is.
06:20 The farmers have called it a ceasefire but only for today, Tuesday.
06:24 They say that on Wednesday, which is 14th of February, a day of love, Valentine's Day,
06:31 but whether it will be a love loss between the farmer and the government, that we'll
06:35 have to wait and watch and see what transpires early morning on Wednesday.
06:41 But as of now, the roads have fallen silent once again.
06:45 Those who are protesting have put and camped wherever they are on the border areas.
06:50 We will have to wait and watch.
06:52 One India will bring you all the details.
