00:00 Morning Andy, how you doing buddy? I'm good. Thanks. I hope you are. Yeah
00:04 Good one helps right?
00:09 No doubt about it
00:12 Do you have a question for Kenny go ahead use the raise hand tool?
00:15 Those just joining us if you need access to record just send me a note the chat window royal how you're up first sir. Go ahead
00:21 Good morning coach. How we doing? How you doing man doing well doing well coach
00:29 Congratulations on a win on Saturday. I just wanted to actually coach
00:32 It seems like your philosophy over the last four games two and two
00:35 Impressive wins on Saturday against tech and also against Florida State when your team attacks the basket at least 40 free throw attempts
00:42 You win those ball games both wins when you do not take the basket at least
00:47 20 attempts those have been both losses. Have your philosophy been basically attacking a basket?
00:53 Is that just your philosophy as far as you know trying to get you know chemistry and camaraderie amongst your team?
00:59 well, what what I've
01:01 Initially from day one talked about is putting pressure on defense
01:05 And looking at our team
01:08 I wish I could say we could shoot 43 and some of it come off of just the ball staying on the perimeter
01:15 But that's just not the case
01:17 we have to get the ball in the paint and
01:19 we have to get people we got a score the ball in the paint a lot and
01:24 then from that when people suck down and collapse on the drive, we got to spray the ball out and
01:30 Make my jump shots, but the reality of it is
01:34 When we are attacking the basket, we're putting pressure on the defense people will follow you
01:40 Aggressive teams will follow you you create fouls and when we do it constantly and consistently and with force
01:48 We go to the free throw line
01:51 And and it's been working for us, but also as it's been working. It's been multiple guys
01:58 That have been going and it shows in the fact that for example last game. We had six guys in double figures
02:06 Guys are doing things that as a group everybody's benefiting from the ball moving and attacking the paint
02:17 Coaches there's something that you noticed on Saturday on Boston College at Duke where you know
02:22 It's a close game at halftime and then after half
02:24 You know it this seems to get away from a little bit from a recruiting and scouting standpoint
02:29 Is there something that you're focusing on pinpointing for your matchup with them coming up?
02:34 No, I know they're a good team. I know they're well coached team. I know they are disciplined team
02:40 Everybody knows that when they shoot the ball, well, they're gonna play well
02:46 They're capable of hurting you in the post and you got to make a decision if you want to trap
02:52 Post down there in the block and if you do you got to know that they got shooters on the perimeter
02:57 They got a really good guard and Zachary and they got shooters all around
03:02 So they're a tough team to play and they're well coached team like I said before
03:07 And it's not gonna be easy to go into their home court and beat them
03:12 We just got to play our basketball and be disciplined and determined on what we have to do and be focused on
03:19 Thanks coach. Go next to Russ Brown
03:22 Hi Kenny
03:25 What do you think led to Caleb Glenn's
03:29 emergence improved play in the last four or five games and in and
03:34 Follow-up that what does that mean for your team going forward?
03:39 Well simply the second part of your question when Caleb plays
03:43 Well with energy and discipline and knows what we're doing. We're a better team
03:48 You know
03:51 Caleb Glenn brings an element to our team that we need we need his physicality. We need his rebounding
03:58 To go into it and say it a little differently. I'm looking at a stat here. This is
04:03 the most offensive rebound by you avail player
04:09 Offense nine offensive rebounds in the game. This is a lot since 2012
04:15 Come on, that's this
04:17 The stat that means a lot about his effort his energy his fight his determination
04:22 We need more of that
04:25 We need him to to pick up what we're doing more. He's no longer a freshman. He's bought into that
04:32 I'm proud of him and he just has to continue to build and grow as a player
04:37 Why do you think he's come on say in the last four or five games? It's almost like a switch
04:42 Well, you know early on I talked to him about I gave him a date and the date was somewhere around
04:50 January
04:52 15 and
04:54 I said at that point January 15th, you're no longer a freshman in my eyes
04:59 So you need to learn as much as you can
05:03 Be as comfortable as you can as come as confident as you can because on that date
05:09 I'm no longer expecting you to be lost. I'm no longer expecting you to be confused
05:13 I'm expecting you to have seen enough basketball whether you're in the game or out of the game
05:18 To where you can make adjustments and come in and help this team. And so I think he's done that
05:24 I think that he understands now
05:26 How hard this is which coming from high school is difficult. I think he's embraced it
05:33 I think he's he knows that I put pressure on him
05:37 Because I believe that he can do it and I believe in him and that I'm not accepting less
05:43 Thank you
05:46 Go nectar next to Rick Bosich. Go ahead Rick
05:49 Yeah, Kenny
05:52 You guys have two road games this week. Then you get for your last five at home
05:55 You got to win at Miami
05:57 But other than that, it's been hard to win on the road as you approach these games like what's the number one thing?
06:03 You need to see from your team to carry over to be successful on the road
06:07 Well for me Rick, you know, that's a great question. One is we got to take care of the ball. We can't turn the ball over
06:14 Two is we have to play together our offense has to be not one guy trying to do it by itself
06:22 It has to be a combination of players all playing together with one cause
06:28 Three is the defensive end of the floor. I love the fact that we finished a
06:33 Eight minutes to go in the game against tech 32 to 11. That means we did a lot of good things
06:39 defensively
06:41 Offensively, we know we did some decent things, but we have to do the things defensively to close our games and I thought we did that
06:49 and follow up just that I asked you about this Saturday, but
06:53 your team has been shown more balance lately is that just
06:58 Maturity or is that them finally?
07:00 Grasping the lesson you're trying to give them or what do you think has changed?
07:04 Well, you know the first thing I will say Rick when you're ranked 308 in experience
07:11 in the country
07:14 That's an unbelievable number. That means you're really young
07:17 So you're ranked 308 in Division one experience
07:22 So you don't have guys out there that's seen the game before
07:27 And a bit a large amount so we're learning about each other. We're still in the learning stages. This is a process
07:34 And we're getting better and we're getting better at the right time
07:39 I just hope that we can do it enough to where we can get some of these last couple games
07:46 Walk away with some victories so they feel good about it. They feel good about the work they put in
07:52 They feel good about knowing that they can go into a game and if they're disciplined and do the game plan
07:57 They got a fighting chance to win
07:59 Any other questions for Kenny
08:04 Go to Brooks Holton
08:09 Yeah, can you just just
08:12 Just jumping off that point
08:14 What do you think the biggest key is to just to just I'm having that level of a consistent play
08:19 You know down the stretch
08:22 Well one is I
08:24 Look at it and I I try not to look ahead. I'll total focus has to be Boston College
08:30 I don't know who we play after Boston College
08:33 Because I got a team that we have to try to win today and today means practice
08:39 Dominate the practice and then tomorrow we'll worry about let's figure out a way to how do we dominate Boston College?
08:46 Who is a good team playing at home?
08:49 we got to do certain things well to beat them and and you know Brooks it may sound cliche or whatever, but
08:56 If we take every day and try to be the best we can that day we got a chance of winning the game
09:02 I would like for our
09:05 Preparation to lead to the way that we play in games, which we've gotten better at
09:09 I just think when you're young like we are
09:12 we have to go out and do the things that we do well and
09:17 And fight to get wins. Nothing else matters other than winning the game
09:21 Yeah speaking about practice Trey just said that it felt like
09:27 It felt like the you all really set the tone for a Saturday's game in your first practice that coming back from Syracuse
09:33 Was that something that you saw maybe coming off the a disappointing ending with the a goaltending call where your guys were?
09:39 You know wanting to you know, actually actually I finished the job on Saturday
09:43 Well, we talked about earning respect
09:47 And we've been talking about earning respect. And so how do you earn respect it starts with respecting your teammates?
09:54 It finishes with your opponents respecting you the referees respecting you your fans respecting you
10:01 Your community respecting you and we got to go out and earn that and how do we start it by the way we practice?
10:09 I
10:10 Don't believe that with a young team that we can take days and say okay today. We got a game tomorrow
10:16 Guys, let's just take it easy
10:18 They need to know that in order to play a certain way
10:21 You got to prepare a certain way. And so I think one of the things Trey is probably saying to you is that
10:27 You know, we prepare to play that game the way we did to finish that game the way we did
10:34 Any thank you appreciate the time see you next week
