00:31 - Sato is a very complex character.
00:33 He definitely has so many things on his mind,
00:36 but his psyche as far as loyalty, love,
00:40 and almost ambition,
00:43 sort of can cloud what he wants to do.
00:45 Can you talk about playing those different aspects of him?
00:48 - [speaking in Japanese]
00:53 Sato and I are very similar characters and people,
00:58 so it was very easy for me to play him.

02:07 - So what exactly do you do all day?
02:09 - I chase down stories.
02:13 - What do you love most about your job?
02:19 - I'd say the unpredictability of it.
02:22 Never knowing what's coming next.
02:25 - Jack, you did not come to Tokyo in pursuit of one.
02:36 There are other stories, other crimes to be exposed.
02:40 That is your job.
02:43 - If you saw anything that can help me, now's my chance.
02:50 - I saw a tattoo.
02:51 - You know I'm onto something.
02:56 - Chase it.
02:57 Tell no one.
02:58 - Well, it's interesting because your physicality,
03:03 playing him, Cho, is basically, it's so reserved,
03:07 and then you can see these moments of just sort of rage,
03:10 like he's almost like the godfather.
03:12 He's in the godfather, like Michael Corleone,
03:15 this reluctant sort of, he's not a villain,
03:18 he's not a hero, he's just a man trying to make his way.
03:21 Could you talk about looking at those different metaphors?
03:25 And this season you're dealing with family,
03:27 you're dealing with your brother,
03:28 you're dealing with like aspects with Ashida
03:32 that are very complex and could go even further
03:35 in this season.
03:36 Can you talk about these different levels
03:38 and how different scenes you have to play
03:40 with a different energy,
03:42 depending on who you're in the scene with,
03:44 whether you're with Rachel, whether you're with Anson,
03:47 whether you're with, you know, a lot of your,
03:51 I forget who the guy who's the guy right above you
03:54 in the snow at one point.
03:56 There has to be a very specific energy in a scene.
03:59 Could you talk about finding that ying and yang,
04:01 finding that sort of balance in the performance for you,
04:04 where you can see that pinpoint and then you pull back,
04:08 'cause we do see sort of that movement.

06:11 - Who knows what he'll do
06:18 if Tozawa thinks we have this information?
06:21 - Maybe you should lay low.
06:23 - Because that all works and then you have this environment
06:27 because it's about the underworld.
06:29 It is about the Yakuza.
06:30 It is about a code.
06:33 So it's showing sort of, it's interesting.
06:35 You can see the dread going underneath the show,
06:38 but also those moments of joy, you know,
06:41 that Sato sometimes gets when he's playing video games
06:43 with his brothers, with his brother,
06:45 or sharing a kiss with a lady during the season.
06:49 Could you talk about sort of, you know,
06:52 being part of that environment
06:54 and understanding the mechanics
06:55 of the world Sato exists in?
06:58 Because the only way he's gonna live is if he understands.

08:01 - Be careful.
08:02 - Other people are relying on you now.
08:06 You are the way this ends.
