Doug (Joaquin Phoenix) gives Pamela (Liv Tyler) a kiss after she tells him she likes him.
REVIEW:
Based on a short tale by Sue Miller, Pat O'Connor directs this 1950s family drama about the lives of two closely related small town Illinois families that dangerously cross. The working class brothers Doug Holt (Joaquin Phoenix) and Jacey (Billy Crudup), despite coming from the wrong side of the tracks, are in love with the wealthy and stunning Abbott sisters. Silent and reserved Doug, who looks up to his promiscuous brother, has feelings for the iconoclastic Pam (Liv Tyler), but Jacey is more calculated in his pursuit of whatever Abbott sister sparks his interest.
