00:00 "Winner!"
00:01 "Sorry, are you okay?"
00:05 Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we're taking a look at 10 exploits that could help you
00:10 beat some PS2 titles with very little effort, or just let you unlock some cool secrets.
00:15 "After 10 years of suffering, 10 years of endless nightmares, it will finally come to
00:22 an end."
00:23 Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to Mojo
00:28 Plays and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:35 Jak and Daxter - The Precursor Legacy
00:38 The first Jak and Daxter was among the toughest of the PS2 games, at least when it came to
00:43 achieving that full completion and finding every energy cell and precursor orb.
00:48 But one of the most arduous portions of the game is the level before the final battle
00:52 with Gull and Maya.
00:54 What if we told you there was a way to skip straight to the fight?
00:57 As soon as the cutscene ends, pause as soon as possible, then save and quit.
01:02 Start the game with your save file, and you'll wind up at the start of the final boss fight.
01:06 Caveat emptor, because if you wind up going to retrieve any power cells after the fight,
01:12 your game will lock up after collecting one, and you will have to reset your console every
01:17 single time.
01:20 Jak 2 - The Ending
01:26 Don't worry, this list isn't filled to the brim with Jak and Daxter exploits.
01:29 However, Jak 2 has a means of making traversal more manageable.
01:34 How many wrecks have we caused trying to get around New Haven?
01:37 Well, too many, but one glitch can turn the city into a ghost town.
01:42 Use a zoomer to get to Mar's Tomb.
01:44 If you maneuver along the left of the entrance, you'll reach a point where the game registers
01:48 that you are outside of the city.
01:50 Climb back down and back inside, and the game will fail to spawn in citizens, guards, and
01:56 zoomers.
01:57 Other objects in the environment may fail to load in as well, but hey, at least you
02:00 can carry on in your own Twilight Zone-like fantasy.
02:04 Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance 2
02:07 Back in the PS2 days, many RPGs had sheets where you could start games with high-level
02:12 characters.
02:13 As for Dark Alliance 2, there was a quick and easy exploit you could do, and yes, you
02:17 can even do it in the remasters made for modern hardware.
02:21 Simply drop the item you want to duplicate on the ground, save your game, then import
02:25 your character into the world through the "Change Players" menu.
02:29 You should load back in with your inventory unaltered, but the dropped item is still intact.
02:34 Congratulations, you have now broken the economy.
02:37 Go nuts.
02:38 Thunder Strike - Operation Phoenix
02:47 Now this one is more of a cheat than an exploit, but because of the unorthodox nature of the
02:52 cheat, we're willing to make an exception here.
02:54 Normally, cheat codes require inputs be made in a menu, usually the main menu, a character
03:00 select screen, or the pause menu.
03:02 But Thunder Strike hides a cheat to unlock all missions through specific settings in
03:06 the "Options" menu.
03:08 First mute all sound effects and music, then go to your vibration settings and set that
03:13 to 0.
03:14 And finally, press L1, L2, R1, R2, Circle, and Square.
03:19 It's a lot of super specific steps just to access every mission in the game.
03:24 Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore - Operation Phoenix
03:27 In order to unlock additional costumes for the dudes and dudettes of Dead or Alive 2
03:32 Hardcore, you have to commit to a serious grind.
03:42 A lot of your time will be spent alternating between playing and replaying story mode and
03:47 trying to grind for score and items in survival mode.
03:50 There is a method to potentially get costumes quicker, but it requires some tedious gameplay.
03:56 Start up survival mode, and while you're in the middle of your first fight, eject the
03:59 disc from the PS2.
04:01 The game will still be playable, but when you KO your opponent, the game can't spawn
04:05 in a new one.
04:06 The disc is gone, so there's no data to read.
04:09 However, you can keep beating on your downed opponent and grabbing items from their carcass.
04:14 Yes, you do look like a psychopath, but at least you're getting all the outfits quicker.
04:24 Monster Rancher 4 - Tecmo
04:26 Tecmo wasn't done making us mess with discs.
04:29 Monster Rancher 4 had a rather unconventional way of letting players obtain specific monsters
04:34 they want via the Shrine.
04:36 Whether you inserted another game, a DVD movie, or a music CD, there was a good chance you
04:41 could earn yourself a good monster.
04:43 Every monster had their own piece of entertainment assigned to them.
04:46 For example, inserting the Eminem Show album would net you Gadgeter G.
04:51 Inserting Shrek on DVD would get you Pandibaku.
04:55 A disc from the Powerpuff Girls movie or The Simpsons The Complete First Season would get
05:00 you Comedy Coro.
05:01 Did they all make sense?
05:03 Not exactly.
05:04 It was such a bizarre feature, but neat in how it rewarded you for simply exploring other
05:08 mediums of entertainment, or just pilfering mom and dad's collection of stuff.
05:13 Growlanser Generations - Atlus
05:23 Did any of you play Growlanser Generations?
05:26 Probably not, as it was the most niche of niche JRPGs at the time.
05:30 On top of that, Atlus wasn't as big as it is now, but Growlanser Generations holds a
05:35 rather cool secret that can allow you to cast spells at their highest potential a bit more
05:40 frequently.
05:41 Plugging in a Dance Pad controller into the PS2 would trigger a new mechanic for you during
05:46 combat.
05:47 When a party member casts a spell, arrows will begin to display like in Dance Dance
05:51 Revolution.
05:52 The spell's effectiveness and power will be determined by how well you hit the right
05:56 inputs on the dance pad.
05:58 If you rocked at DDR, well, you just bought yourself a ticket to inflicting maximum damage
06:03 every time in Growlanser Generations.
06:13 Sly 2 - Band of Thieves Let's reel things back to something a lot
06:18 smaller - currency.
06:20 In Sly 2, it can get annoying and boring to wander around pickpocketing random guards
06:25 just to get one new move.
06:30 Well, if you want something a bit more controlled, the Mission RC Combat Club has the perfect
06:37 money farm for you.
06:39 One segment will put you in a room of three guards.
06:42 Two of them will have loot to steal, rather than just pocket money.
06:46 Rob all three of them blind, then get yourself caught.
06:49 The room will reset, all three guards will have loot to steal again, but this time, your
06:53 pockets are loaded up as if you already stole their goods.
06:56 Now rinse and repeat as often as you like.
07:07 NBA Shootout 2004 - Now, this exploit isn't anything to do with actually cheating the
07:13 game, but rather a means to possibly psych out your friends.
07:17 Imagine this, you and your friend are going head to head in a simple game of basketball,
07:21 right?
07:22 Your opponent is at the free throw line, try wiggling your analog stick in any direction
07:27 just as they're about to shoot.
07:29 Doing this will cause their controller to vibrate.
07:32 Yes, it is a total douche move, and can potentially cause them to miss their shot, but go ahead,
07:38 see how long it takes for them to notice something's up.
07:42 God of War - We won't lie, the first God of War is a tough game, still one of the hardest
07:56 games Sony has put out.
07:57 But if you don't want to deal with the Tower of Blades or the Sirens and Satyrs again,
08:02 and just want all the post-game goodies, there is an unlock everything cheat.
08:07 Log in a second controller while at the main menu, and press L3, R2, L2, R2, R1, L2, R1,
08:14 L1, R2, Triangle, R2, Triangle.
08:18 Entering this will unlock everything in the game, and we mean everything.
08:23 All the hidden cutscenes, all of the costumes, the secret messages, literally everything.
08:29 But real badasses like myself, we suffer through Challenge of the Gods, rather than resort
08:35 to overly complicated codes.
08:44 Have you tried any of these exploits for yourself?
08:47 Let us know down in the comments, and be sure to subscribe to Mojo Plays for more great
08:51 videos every day.
08:53 Thanks for watching.
