00:00 Welcome back to the Arizona Daily Mix. It's a special Arizona Daily Mix out
00:11 here at the WN Phoenix Open and I'll tell you right now the crowds are
00:15 starting to come in. Weather is looking pretty chilly but still good. We just
00:19 heard a big roar from the 16th hole where a lot of you are probably heading
00:22 over to but I will say you know the tournament is put on by the Thunderbirds.
00:26 The players bring out the sporting part of it but it wouldn't go on without
00:31 volunteers like two that I have right here Steve and Tim with me and this is
00:36 what's so great about these gentlemen is that they give up their time to come out
00:39 here to make sure we're safe that we're getting around places and everything
00:41 like that and but the thing is that you've been doing this for how long?
00:45 25 years. 25 years. Wow and then you Tim have been doing it 22 years. 22 years and
00:50 I gotta ask why do you guys do this? It's just a lot of fun I mean it's for a
00:54 good cause there's a lot of charity raised and it's just good being inside
00:59 the ropes and being around the players. And it's not just here you volunteer you
01:03 guys actually volunteer throughout the community it's kind of like a great
01:06 community of volunteers who go to the community. Right we try to make their our
01:12 community better and you know getting involved helps that make that happen.
01:18 We also ask you to respect them because they are kind of like the guides here
01:22 you see them with the quiet signs on when they see those go up they want you
01:26 to be quiet right? Absolutely it's it's hard on 16 they're not quiet but for the
01:31 most part fans behave. Yeah and I love that there are all types of ages out
01:36 here volunteering and that's what it's about it's about of course everybody
01:39 getting involved. Right well it draws the crowd of various pages so we also have a
01:45 lot of volunteers that are young as well as seniors as well. Yeah and I'll say
01:50 it's a great thing for ideas we're seeing them out here of course working
01:53 on the different holes. So let me ask you how many different places have you
01:56 worked out the 25 years how many places have you worked and what's your favorite?
01:59 Oh this is definitely the favorite I mean it's nice to be able to walk all 18
02:04 holes see all the different you know sights and sounds and and yeah so I 16
02:10 you can't beat 16. Yeah all right what do you guys recommend if someone wants to
02:13 become a volunteer with you guys? Well we're walking scores so you have to be
02:18 able to understand what the golf rules are all about and actually be helpful to
02:23 be playing the game. The other thing is if you had actually scored for other
02:27 tournaments like the Corn Ferry or the LPGA that's also helpful before you get
02:33 involved with the PGA. Yeah all right there you go some great tips there for
02:36 you guys and we thank you very much you know for you and the ladies who are of
02:40 course volunteer with them we couldn't do it without you because this is what
02:44 it's all about the community giving back and they don't do it for pay they do it
02:48 for a hat and and and a chance to watch some pro golf so let's give them a break
