00:00 I love you. You're the greatest quarterback in the world, man.
00:04 Hey, I love you, man.
00:05 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the iconic moments an athlete
00:09 used their vast skills to single-handedly produce a piece of brilliance that earned
00:13 them or their side the victory.
00:14 And the celebration will begin. The Dallas Mavericks are NBA champions,
00:19 the first title in franchise history.
00:22 Number 10, Dwayne Wade.
00:25 At guard, number three, Dwayne Wade.
00:34 By game three of the 2006 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks were leading a comfortable
00:39 2-0 in the series over the Miami Heat. Dwayne Wade wrote his name in the history books during
00:43 that game by scoring 42 points, giving the Heat a narrow win. This inspired the team
00:48 who soon after tied the series. In game five, Wade shot 25 free throws, more than the entire
00:54 Dallas team combined, including one game that gave the Heat the win and turned the tide
00:58 as they secured their first championship in game six.
01:00 Wade was the Heat's highest scorer in every Finals game, rightfully winning the Finals
01:13 MVP award.
01:14 Number nine, Steven Gerrard.
01:19 Out of his long career of impressive achievements,
01:21 Steven Gerrard's best performance in a Liverpool shirt is undoubtedly the 2006
01:26 FA Cup Final nicknamed the Gerrard Final. Things weren't off to the best start as within
01:30 30 minutes, West Ham led 2-0. Cue Gerrard, who played a long ball to Gibrale Sisse to volley it
01:36 in. In the second half, the scouse icon equalized with a half volley.
01:48 Yet Liverpool fell behind once again. In injury time, a shattered Gerrard dug deep
01:59 to fire in a 30-yard stunner, sending the match into extra time.
02:02 During the penalty shootout, Gerrard also powered in his attempt,
02:12 and Liverpool went on to lift the fabled trophy.
02:14 Number eight, Madison Bumgarner.
02:21 Playing for the San Francisco Giants against the Kansas City Royals in the 2014 World Series,
02:25 Bumgarner's outstanding performance across 21 innings led to his team claiming the famous
02:30 Commissioner's Trophy. During the series, Bumgarner either broke or matched many World Series records.
02:40 This included being the first pitcher to produce a shutout with no walks and at least
02:50 eight strikeouts, which he achieved in Game 5, and the most shutout innings in relief with five
02:55 during the deciding Game 7. To no one's surprise, the pitcher nicknamed "Mad Bum" was awarded MVP
03:08 honors. Number seven, Bobby Orr.
03:10 After the Boston Bruins won the first three games, the score was tied in Game 4 at 3 apiece,
03:22 and went into overtime. Upskates defenseman Bobby Orr played the puck to Derek Sanderson,
03:26 who returned it to him near the Blues goal. As cool as an icy cucumber,
03:30 Orr slotted the puck past Glenn Hall, sealing the 4-0 series win for the Bruins.
03:35 Orr, caught in the moment, produced a flying dive on the ice before being swamped by his
03:46 ecstatic teammates. The moment captured on camera remains one of the most iconic photos
03:51 in hockey history. Number six, Mildred "Babe" Dedrickson-Zaharious.
04:01 At the 1932 Summer Olympics, Mildred Dedrickson-Zaharious took part in the women's
04:06 categories for the 80-meter hurdles, high jump, and javelin throw. She put out a performance of
04:10 a lifetime by smashing world records and winning two gold medals and a silver in the high jump
04:15 after a controversial judging decision robbed her of three golds.
04:30 As a result, Zaharious is the only Olympic athlete to date to win medals in the running,
04:34 throwing, and jumping events. She also contributed to the U.S. finishing top of the medals table.
04:38 Number five, Eric Heiden. Like Zaharious, Eric Heiden is another once-in-a-generation athletic
05:05 phenomenon who set several world records. The speed skater represented the U.S. at the 1980
05:14 Winter Olympics, and he put in a performance that went down in the prestigious events lore
05:18 by winning a stunning five gold medals in speed skating competitions.
05:21 His achievement put the U.S. in third in the overall medal table. At the time of writing,
05:33 only Michael Phelps and Vitaly Shcherbov have equaled Heiden's record of most individual gold
05:38 medals in a single Olympics. Number four, Tom Brady. There's always a specific game that puts
05:53 all doubts out of people's minds about an athlete's legendary status. For Tom Brady, that was Super
05:58 Bowl XLIX. Playing for the New England Patriots against the Seattle Seahawks, the quarterback was
06:06 in dazzling form, especially in the fourth quarter with his side behind by ten. During the game,
06:19 Brady broke or matched seven Super Bowl records, three of which extended his own. Due to his
06:24 efforts and the fantastic interception by Malcolm Butler to stop a late comeback, the Patriots went
06:29 on to win 28-24, and Brady was named Super Bowl MVP. Number three, Dirk Nowitzki. Nowitzki was
06:40 the linchpin in the Dallas Mavericks' 2011 NBA season, but taking on the star-studded and heavy
06:45 favorites Miami Heat in the finals, it didn't look good for Dallas. Matters worsened when it
06:49 was revealed Nowitzki tore a tendon in his finger and was battling illness along the way, something
06:53 which LeBron James and Dwayne Wade mocked him for. Yet even with everything against him, the German
06:58 carried his underdog's side. With the exception of game six, Nowitzki was the top point scorer
07:07 for Dallas, leading them to their first NBA championship and winning the finals MVP award.
07:11 Number two, Ben Stokes. In recent years when the England cricket team has needed something magical,
07:20 Ben Stokes has stepped into the fray. After all, he was a big part in winning his nation the 2019
07:25 Cricket World Cup. But at the 2022 T20 World Cup final, Stokes stepped up once again. After his
07:45 bowling which took one wicket and contained Pakistan to 137 runs with eight out, Team England
07:50 struggled with batting. Then Stokes entered in fourth. Big Match Ben turned it around by securing
07:55 an unbeaten 52 runs, including clearing the boundary for his six and making five fours out of
08:00 49 balls. England reached 138 runs, beating Pakistan by five wickets, and secured themselves
08:06 another World Cup thanks to Stokes. Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel

08:28 a moment of pure genius and one of controversy during the same game. But Diego Maradona was a
08:39 unique talent. At the 1986 World Cup, Argentina faced England in the quarterfinal. After his
08:45 hand of God, Maradona demonstrated the goal of the century. The Argentinian maestro got the ball
08:50 inside his own half. He then ran towards the England goal, beating four players, one of them
09:04 twice before finding himself with goalkeeper Peter Shilton. A faint scent Shilton crashing to the
09:09 ground, allowing Maradona to tuck away the best individual goal in history, giving his side a 2-1
09:14 win. Argentina went on to win the World Cup. Which moment on this list was your favorite?
